Hallelujah Piano Tutorial for Beginners chords
Start Jamming...
Hey guys, wanted to make a tutorial for the song Hallelujah on piano.
[C] Getting
right into it, obviously the introductory riff is the backbone of the whole song.
So we're gonna focus in on that.
I'm gonna just break that down and really
just make sure that you know you got the whole concept because what they're doing
here is [Em] they're walking, [Am]
[C] [Am] walking this progression [C] down.
So it starts with your
C chord.
You know technically the next [Am] chord is an A, A minor, sorry, but [Fm] they're
walking it down and to [C] get that full effect I have to [Am]
walk the chord down and
then walk it back up [N] as well.
So if you're familiar with that, you know that's
this video is not for you, but if you want to [C] see kind of a broken-down look
at what's happening there, that's what this video is basically for.
So getting
right into it, we're starting over here on our C.
I've got a full octave on my
right hand here and a first and fifth on the left hand.
So the notes are starting
on your E.
The left hand you're still triggering the C.
There's your first part
of the pattern.
You go from your E to your C back to your E.
Jump it up to your octave.
Next note's going to be a G.
[G]
[C] So now we begin the walk down part and [N] what we're
going to do is, is once we hit this G at the end of it, we're going to go back to
an E on this hand and then we're going to trigger a B [E] simultaneously.
So the
next two parts [Ebm] coming is going to be this walk down.
[E] So you've got an E on
this hand and a B and then you're going to go down [Db] to finally your A minor, but
with this [Am] hand you're going to be triggering a C.
[C] [Em] [Am]
[C]
So from there, after you've walked it down and you have triggered your C,
immediately take this hand and just kind of roll an A minor.
So see [Em] [Am]
[F] [Ebm] that?
So you
[C] sneak the A minor in there a little late.
[Am]
So that's kind of broken [N] down the way I
do it.
Now we also have to walk the chord back up.
I don't do it every time.
I kind
[C] of do it every other time.
[Em] [Am]
[B] [C] C.
So that's kind of how to walk this down and walk
it back up.
Play with it, make it your own.
[Am]
[C] [Em] [Am] [C]
[Am] [N] So that's that.
I've posted the
chords in the description.
Really just keeping it pretty mellow.
When you slide
into the verse, the chords continue to stay C to A minor for the first
couple of bars.
I would just kind [C] of
[Am] [C]
[A] [Am] [C] I heard there was [Am] a secret chord
Simplify the riff.
[C] Don't walk it [A] down and up.
[Am] [C]
[A] [Am] [C]
And obviously build with
intensity when it gets into the second parts of the verses.
But again, the chorus too. [F] You know?
Hallelujah.
[Am] Hallelujah.
[F] Hallelujah.
[C] Hallelujah.
[G]
