Hank Thompson - 1960's - Medley of Hits chords
Start Jamming...
Here's a guy I'm delighted to welcome to our show.
He's got the finest western [Bb] swing band around,
sings a heck of a [B] song, and one delightful guy.
Say hello to [A] Hank Thompson and all the brads at [Em] Valley Ball!
[A] Humpty Dumpty, right on the wall,
[D] Humpty Dumpty, how do they [E] call?
All the king's horses, all the king's horses,
[A] I've got [A] a Humpty Dumpty car.
[D] You drop it in, broke it apart,
[E]
All the king's horses, all the king's men,
[Db] Put it together [A] again, so when I came to cue my heart,
[D] You'd split that dream apart,
[E] That wasn't the day my heart was found,
I've got a [A] Humpty Dumpty heart.
[G]
[C]
I turned your whole heart [F] [C] upside down,
I caught you cheating [D] and running [G] around,
There's a smile upon your face,
[C] While another [A] takes my place,
[Dm] Now I'd like to hear the truth [C] I found,
Babe, there's a green light [F] up [C] your heels,
There'll come a day, [D] you'll know how [G] it feels,
To your happiness and trust,
[C] Keep taking [A] for a jump,
Now there's a [G] green light in [C] your wheels.
[N]
Looking good and sounding better.
Thank you Jim, and certainly a pleasure to be up here with you,
Hank and Seth, and all the brads at Valley Ball.
[B] You know what, I want to tell something on you,
and we didn't rehearse this.
Hank's team comprises a portion of a baseball team,
and they used to travel by bus.
They did, and they were playing an early morning show we used to do,
and after the show, we finished the show,
and Hank says, let's play some baseball.
We said, why not?
And so we go out to play baseball,
and somebody said, now we're going to play softball or baseball?
Hank said, oh man, play baseball, I get hurt playing softball.
Wait a minute, wait a minute.
Now Hank's up to bat, right, and his drummer's pitching.
He stands up there, and the first pitch,
I'm going to waffle right here, you know?
And it starts swelling up.
The next day, he comes in to do the broadcast,
and he's got a cast from here to here.
Broke his cotton picking arm, but he never gets hurt playing baseball.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
