Hello YouTube world, if you are watching this video that means you have exquisite taste in music, so congratulations.
I got several quests to do this video, so I'm going to get right down to it.
I will play each part at speed, and then if that's a little too fast for you
I'm going to break it down at the end and explain to you the chord shapes and stuff like that, so stay tuned.
All right, here we go.
So this is the intro.
[Am] [G]
[C] [Am]
[G] [C]
[Am] This [G] [C]
[A] [G]
[C] is the [Ab] verse, and it's the same [Am] chords as the intro.
[Em] [C]
[Am] [Em]
[C] [Am]
[Em] [C]
[F] Pre-chorus, [Em]
[G] and then this is the verse.
I'm sorry.
This is the [Am] chorus.
[G]
[C] [G]
[Am] [G] [C]
[D] [Am]
[G] [C] [G]
[Am] [G]
[C] [G]
First you've got an A minor, so you're gonna, on everything that you do on this song,
you play the root of the chord in your left hand as octaves.
So it's the first [Em] chord is an A minor,
[A] so I'm gonna play
two A's [Dm] with my left hand, so
I'll go ahead and just tell you the left [A] hand.
So the left hand for the intro and the verse
pretty much the whole song is gonna be A [G] G [C] C So,
[A] Why [G] am I [C] fucking up so bad?
That's [G] the whole thing [A] for the verse and
Baby I left [G] you in North [C] Chicago
And [Fm] then in the right hand, we're just gonna play the [E] chords that go with those roots, but some of the chords are inverted
So really the main takeaway is to watch what notes change in the right hand because some of them are gonna stay the same
So the first chord of the intro and verse
Is a minor so we're gonna [Am] go
Play A in the left hand, play A minor triad in the right hand.
So A minor, and then we're gonna go [G] to a G
But I'm gonna keep this note.
So the only [Am] thing that changes is
[G] The bottom two notes and [Am] [G] then we're gonna go to a C in the [C] left hand
And we're only gonna change one note in the right hand.
We're gonna play that C and
That's actually a C second inversion, I believe because usually you play a C like this
But we're just taking that G and we're putting it down here to make it more convenient
so again, the whole intro and verse is [A] just
A [G] minor, G major, [C] C major
Same thing with the [Am] verse when it goes A minor, [G] G major, [C] C
[Am] [G]
[C] It's kind of staccato with it.
So I wouldn't play the [D] I use the damper pedal for the [Am] intro when the
Chords are sustained and then I just take it off and play staccato
on the verse and then on the pre-chorus
You're gonna do F in the left [F] hand as octaves
I'll go [Bb] ahead and show you the left hand first for the [Em] pre-chorus it [F] goes
[E] F, E, [G]
G [F] So
[E] And [G]
then [Em] you're gonna do the same thing on the right hand except for you're gonna [Eb] play inversions again
So just kind of [F] watch out for what notes change in the right hand.
So you're gonna go F
F major and then when you go to the [E] E you're just gonna [Em] change the bottom two notes.
[F] So it's gonna go F [C] [E] E
And then [Em] you're gonna play a G [G] and just play a regular G major chord.
So again, it's
[F] And [C] [G]
then the chorus is just like the intro and verse except for you have one extra chord and that will be a D
So I'll D minor so I'll play that for you
So you're gonna go [Am] A minor
[G] G [C] and then C and then you're gonna keep this bottom note and
Move the left hand up [D] to D in octaves move the right [G] hand up to a D chord
And all you're doing again is you're playing a D minor, but you're making that G down here.
So it's easier for you
And it kind of gives a cool little sound.
So again, [Am] it's
[G] [C] And [G] you know these hands move at the same time [Am] so
[G] [Em] G and then [C] C
[G]
That's it
[Eb] [Am] [G]
[C] [D] One more thing I forgot [Em] to mention is a little lick that he does in the intro
So I'll [Am] play it for you just so you know where I'm at.
So he starts out, you know
[G] [C]
[Am] And [G] [C]
then he goes
[Am] So
He's just playing [Gm] G [Am] F E back to A minor
[G] So it's just in between the changes [Am] so
[G] I'm [C] [Am] [G] sorry
[Em]
[Am] [Bb] You [Am]
[B] just put that in the right hand and it really adds a little spice to your life so I recommend
All right, [F] guys.
Thanks for watching
