Hi guys, it's Pianist Programmer here once again and you're welcome to [A] my channel.
This is where I talk about a lot of things ranging from [Bm] music production to [D] songwriting
to music theory [A] and music in general.
Today we're looking at something very [G] important for instrumentalists and even for non-instrumentalists,
[A] this would be helpful as well.
It is how to get [G] the tonic solfeges for any song that you [A] hear, even if you don't know
the song at all.
First of [G] all, why do you need a knowledge like this?
If you're an imagined [A]
instrumentalist or you're learning to play one instrument or the other,
[D] you need to know the kind of chords to play.
Say you're [A]
a pianist, you're a keyboardist or you're a [G] guitarist or any of those instruments
that you need to play chords for.
[D] If you don't know the tonic solfa [A] of a particular song just by [Bm] hearing it, it will be [D] difficult
for you to know the kind of [A] chords to play [D] and that's why this [A] video is definitely for [G] you.
So how do we go about this?
So let's say I have a song [A] and I don't know the tonic solfa and based on that I also [Bm] don't
know the chords to play.
How [D] do I figure out the tonic [A] solfa?
I've come up with certain ways to make this very easy [G] for you and I'll share it with you right now.
So let's [A] dive into [F] it.
[D] Alright so I'll be using [A] the key of F for example.
If you are given any [G] song, you should be given the key of the song and [Dm] that will help you
to get the tonic [A] solfa.
So I'm using the key [G] of F here for the example that we are going to [A] practicalize right now.
So I have this song I'm going to use as an example.
It's [C] [F]
Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba [N] ba.
Ese o baba.
If you don't know this song, it would be a good way to get a picture of what I'm trying
to paint here.
But if you know the song, well, it would probably be a plus for you.
So the first thing you need to do, step one, you are given the key, which is F in [F] this case.
Now, run the scale on F, which is [N] do re mi fa sol [F] la ti do.
Once you do that, put all the things that you ever sing within this note.
[G] Do re mi fa sol la ti do.
Now, the song is.
That's what you need to do.
You need to whom the song first of all, whom it.
So I'm starting with the first note, which is.
So I'm going to go from do to the octave do to find out what note is that.
[Ab] [A]
[F] I got that.
That is a you write it down a.
The next note is.
Remember the song is.
So I'm using just that first line so you can get a picture.
The next note is.
So I'll go again from beginning.
So you need to hold this note down while you are tapping the keyboard to find out what
tonic so far.
So I'm holding it down.
[G] [Dm]
[Gm] [B] [Ab]
[Fm] Sounds like it.
That's C.
So I'll write C down.
OK.
So I'm looking for.
I'll go again.
[G] [Dbm] [C] [D]
As D.
I'll write it down.
[N] OK we've seen that one before.
So you can easily just write C again.
I can go again.
[F] [G] [Em] [A]
That's A again.
[Bbm]
[D] [G] That's G.
[Cm] [Dm]
[G] So we've successfully done.
The next one is.
So I'll go.
[Em]
[A] That's A again.
Eventually for this first line you would have A [C]
C [D] D [C] C [A] A [G] G [F] F [A] A.
That's what you have.
If you got that correctly as you are following this video you discover that that's exactly
what you should have as well.
The next thing to do is.
What is A on F.
What is C on F.
What is D on F.
What is G on F.
So let's do this together.
What is A on F.
A on F is me.
[F] Because F is Do.
So G is Re.
[N]
And A will be me.
OK.
What is C on F.
C on F will be so.
If you got that right.
What is D on F.
D on F will be La.
Eventually when you put that together you should have something like this.
Me so La so me Re Do me.
[G]
I hope that you were able to get that correctly.
If you had any difficulty in getting that right.
The good [A] thing about this is that you can pause this video and take it back to where
I [Bm] began to explain this concept.
[D] Hopefully you get it [A] in no distant time.
Also I would [G] encourage that you get songs that you don't know because this is a song
that you [A] probably know.
So I encourage that you get songs that you don't know and try [Bm] them out and see [D] if you
are still able to get the tonic solfage [A] of that song.
Again I would expect that you keep doing [G] this to a lot of songs because it will help make
the [A] act of getting the tonic solfage stick faster such that you [D] don't have to get a
piano by your side or [A] write anything down before you can get the tonic solfage of any
song [G] just by listening to it.
And if you don't have a piano like I do here [A] you can download Virtuoso piano app from your
[Bm] respective app stores.
Either you are using an android phone or you are [A] using an IOS you will find this app there Virtuoso.
[G] You can use it to practice and get your tonic solfage.
But I'm hoping [D] that you get to the stage where you [A] don't even need the piano anymore
[Bm] to get the tonic solfage of any song.
Until next time when [D] I'll be bringing you tips on how to ace [A] stuffs like this always
[G] remember to keep learning.
And don't forget to hit the subscribe button [A] and the bell beside it.
It gives you notification when I post a new [G] video.
Until next time [Cm] bye bye.
