What's up my boys?
I'm Ubix and I'm finally [Abm] back with [Ab] another tutorial for you today
So as you've read from the [Abm] title, we are going to make a virtual riot [Bbm] style complex draw drop.
It is going to be
[Gb] Pretty nice pretty nice.
[Bbm] No, no, and as [Ebm] usual before getting into the [Abm] tutorial
Let's [Bb] see a small definition of what complex draw really is.
Complex draw is [C] a sub genre of electro house music
It takes a lot of elements from dubstep electro and fidget [E] house.
No one really remembers what that is
[Eb] And [Bb] combines them together into one [Ab] genre
Complex draws main features are its modulated heavy bass lines and glitchy vocals
[Eb]
So now that we know what [Abm] exactly we are going [Bbm] to make let's jump straight into the actual [Fm] tutorial
[Ebm] So
Open up a new project [Abm] set a tempo [Db] around
120 and 130 BPM.
[Ebm] I will choose
[Abm] 125 now we need a [Ab] generic electro drum beat something like this
[Eb] Also, you need to have those symbols to give [Abm] your mix some high [Ab]-end and to give your whole beat some groove
[B] In [Ebm] the eighth bar, you can [Eb] remove the main drums and add some big room [Ab] drum fill made out of toms and [N] snares
[Ab]
[Ebm] Now
Let's [Abm] start adding some background elements [Bbm] you can add one of the most common element in [Ebm] bass music usually an [Abm] offbeat chant
And [Bb] for complex draw you can add this thing too
Cool.
Now if you want to make [Ebm] your drop [Abm] more glitchy and give [F] it some more
Complex draw [Db] vibes you can [Ebm] add some sauce tabs pretty much [Ab] something like this
[Ebm] You can achieve this [Eb] type of sound pretty much with [Abm] any synth
[Ab] Just make sure you're not detuning the sauce way too much [Ebm] if you want it to hit better.
[Abm] All right now, let's [Eb] add
[Bbm] [Fm]
Before [Ebm] we get into the sound [Abm] design
Let's discuss how [Bbm] we are going to set the whole structure of the drop our
Quote [Abm]-unquote first half of the drop [Ab] is going to be structured in different type of bars
[Ebm] The type of [Abm] structure we are going to use is a [Bbm] B a C a B
A [Ebm] D each letter [Abm] representing one bar.
So [Bbm] in the beginning of every two bars, we are going to have a hitting bass
[G]
Then [Abm] for the next two measures [Bbm] of that we can add the [Dbm] bass that's being [Ebm] modulated
We can use some [Abm] pitch bend for that to keep it interesting
[Gb] But in [Abm] the last measure of that first bar, [Ab] there is a bass that's called a filler bass
[Ebm] Usually I tend [Eb] to really modulate that bass and make it really glitchy
[G] All [Bbm]
right.
So the first bar was the [Ebm] A section [Eb] for the B section
We are going to do some similar [Bbm] things, but not really so the first [Ebm] three measures
There's gonna be [Abm] one bass that is [Ab] going to be heavily modulated again keeping it [Db] interesting
[Ebm] As in the A section [Abm] there is going to [Ab] be a filler bass in the last measure
But we are going [Ebm] to have a different bass for [Eb] the variation
[Bm] [Ab]
The next bar is going to be an A section so we can [Ebm] repeat the first [Abm] bar that we just did
Now for the C section
I [Bb] am going to use a bass as a hit and I'm also going to do [Ebm] a slightly [Abm] melodic fill with a new bass
[G] [Ab]
Now everything is kind of done.
You can copy and paste [Abm] everything you just did
But do not [Ab] forget that the D section meaning the last bar [Ebm] can be slightly different
[Abm] Meaning that you can add [Ab] whatever that's melodic or groovy in there
I [Ebm] am just going to add some [Abm] downlifters and impacts so it fills up [Bbm] this section.
When it comes to sound design, try to keep it simple and heavy.
Also don't forget about automating [Ab] them a lot, so you can achieve really interesting
modulation and never forget that [Ab] sub.
Please.
[E]
[Db] Also as an extra tip, you can [Abm] mess around with the background elements and cut them
in various [Bbm] sections so they can give some dynamic [Abm] groove for your drop.
[B]
[Ebm] Also, if you want to [Abm] go extra VR mode, [Ab] you can add some glitchy vocal [C] chops.
But I'm too [Eb] lazy to do that so
Anyways, let's see how the final result sounds like.
[Fm] [F]

[Ebm]
[Abm] [Bb] Alright my dudes, I hope you guys [Ebm] enjoyed watching this tutorial.
Lately [Abm] I've started to do a lot more [Bb] serious tutorials and I'm actually trying to teach
you [Ebm] guys some tips and tricks that I [Ab] know instead of making complete [Fm] f***ing jokes.
[C]
[Bbm] So [Ebm] yeah my boys, hope you're having a fantastic [Gb] day and I will be seeing you guys [Ab] in the next video.
