How to Play 6th Avenue Heartache - Wallflowers (cover) - Easy 4 Chord Tune chords
Start Jamming...
Hey guys, Party Marty here, Easy Guitar Tunes on YouTube.
I've got another really cool tune to play, great strumming song.
It's been requested a bunch of times by a few friends of mine and some subscribers.
So, thought I would get a chance to throw it up.
It's called 6th Avenue Heartache.
It's by the Wallflowers.
They're Jacob Dillon's lead singer, Wallflowers, and I've always been a fan of his stuff.
So, anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this one.
The way I play it's pretty simple.
Four chords.
First one is D.
Then there's an [N] A.
Now, make no mistake, I play it two finger A, so it covers three strings.
My fingers [A] are big enough to do that, so don't get confused there.
Then [Em] there's an E minor.
And [G] then there's a G.
And [D] again, there's a D.
There's [A] an A.
And again, I use two fingers to cover three strings.
You can play it the proper way if you like.
[Em] There's the E minor.
[G] And then G.
Very simple, strong.
It's a nice [A#] slow tune.
I'll slow it down for you.
It's kind of like this.
[D]
[A]
[Em]
[G]
Sometimes you'll see me suspend the chord.
[D] All that is, is lifting my index finger.
[A]
Both fingers for A.
[Em]
Both fingers for E minor.
[G]
Do that again.
[D] Index finger for D.
[A] I do it sometimes, not all the time, in the same way.
I just want you to know what I'm doing.
[Em]
[G]
[D] One more time.
One more time through.
[A] The same four chords all the way through the song.
[Em]
[G]
Practice that strum, [F#] practice those chords, and then join us for the song.
Now, I encourage you guys, too, to come up with your own strumming patterns.
Nothing is set in stone when you're playing music.
Try to have fun with it until you're comfortable with it.
It sounds good.
Try to make it your own a little bit.
It'll actually make it that much more enjoyable for you.
Anyway, let's give this one a [D] go.

[D] Yeah, same black line that was drawn on you, [A] was drawn on me,
and now it's [Em] drawn me in.
Sixth [G] Avenue Harnik.
[D] Yeah, same black line that was drawn on you, [A] was drawn on me,

Sixth [G] Avenue Harnik.
[D] Walking home, down [A] along the old streets,
[Em] river wind moved [G] my feet.
[D] Subway steam, like silhouette [A] in dreams, stood [Em] by me, just [G] like moon and beams.
[D] Yeah, same black line that was drawn on you, [A] was drawn on me,
and now it's [Em] drawn me in.
Sixth [G] Avenue Harnik.
[D] Yeah, same black line that was drawn on you, [A] was drawn on me,

[G] Sixth Avenue Harnik.
Hey,

looking [D] out the window, down [A] along that street,
[Em] gone like a midnight buzz, [G] that man.
But I see [D] his six string up against [A] the wall,
[Em] and all his things, they all [G] look so small.
I got my fingers [D] crossed, on a shooting [A] star, [Em] just like me, I [G] had to move.
On, on, on, and the [D] same black line that was drawn on you, [A] was drawn on me,
and now it's [Em] drawn me in.
[G] Sixth Avenue Harnik.
[D] Yeah, same black line that was drawn on you, [A] was drawn on me,
and now it's drawn [Em] me in.
