_ _ _ Hello and welcome to another Boogie Bo how to play it on your electronic keyboard.
The song today 96 tears _ [Am]
1966 by question mark and the Mysterians. _
They actually from Michigan only about a hundred miles north of me I guess.
He always wore sun shades and still does today.
Yeah and _ look _ at the lead sheet
that I have my own personal lead sheet of course.
The _ first thing you're gonna
notice is there a lot of G and C and the song is in the key of G and really
switches from to the four chord and back the whole way through so it's just G C G
C except for the chorus it does go to E minor for a little while.
The first thing
I'm gonna look at here is a little intro _ starts with a G _ [Gm] now _ [C] _ _ [Gm] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ this G the high G
there is also held in several parts of the song I don't know how they managed
to do that I think they use another keyboard when they record it or
something.
_ The other thing you're gonna see on my sheet here is I have RH 2 RH 1
that means right hand riff 2 or right hand riff 1 _ and you'll _ _ need to look at
the song listen to it and mark your own notes if you want to try to get this
right but the right hand riff 1 [Gb] okay is simply for the G [G] chord you're playing G
and the third root.
_ _ _ Usually it's like eight [A] stabs yep when it comes to the C
[Gm] chord you still play G but you play the seventh of the C _
_ _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ [G] _ _
_ _ _ _ [Gm] _ _ _ _
_ now _ _ we're gonna look at _ the right hand riff 2 while we're here and right hand
[F] riff 2 [G] starts with a G _ _ _ _ _ [Eb] _ _ _
[Em] _ [Eb] _ [G] _ _ _ _ _ [Eb] _
[Em] _ [Ab] _ so _ _ _ anything like that it's gonna sound pretty close _ _ now
the left hand that's where it gets tricky _ because [Gm] _ I'm not playing the left
hand like they play it okay I kind of made up my own bass line so [Bb] _ [Em] _ [Cm] _ _
I'm holding
it like that so _ _ I'm gonna switch back here just to the piano view a little
better for you so _ what I'm doing [Gm] I'm holding that G so _
[Bb] _ _ [E] _ [Gm] _ that's all happening
under the G chord _ [Bb] now [Em] _ [Dm] _
[Cm] _ _ that's the C chord now it'd be pretty [C] boring if I just hold
the C the whole way through which you [Gm] can do if you want but _ _ [Bb] _ [E] _ [C] _ _
so _ _ [Gm] _ _ [Em] _ [C] _ _
_ _ _ _ you can do
that all there _ you're probably a little closer to the bass line in the real
bass line so _ _ [G] _ _ _
that's what I'm doing and that happens under both the right hand
riff 1 & 2 now _ _ I have a drum going _ _ _ _ _ at 116 the beat the tempo 116 I also have
a bass going _ listen to that for a second so _ _ _ _ that's just a steady pounding
_ _ bass drum and again that's the feature of this _ _ keyboard _ the other thing I got
going is the silly little kind of lead [D] _ sound [G] so _ _ _ _ that's the way it sounded for
me so we're gonna try to get through this I'm gonna make a lot of [Gb] mistakes
[Gm] because _ _ oh I'm not so hot at playing this song yet and but we'll give it a go _
_ _ _ _ 1 2 3 _

Too _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [C] _ _ _
[G] many teardrops [C] for one heart to be [G] crying
_ [C] Too _ _ _ [G] many teardrops for one heart to carry on
_ _ [C] _ [G] _ _
Way on top now _ [C] _ _ _ [G]
since you left me
_ _ [C] _ _ [G] You're always laughing _ _ [Cm] _ way [Em] down [Gm] at me
_ [C] _ _ _ But [G] watch out now _ _ [C] _ _ I'm [G] gonna get there
_ [C] _ _ [G] We'll be together just [C] _ _ a [G] little while
_ _ [C] _ _ [D] I'm [Gm] gonna put you [Em] _ [C] _ _ way [Gm] down here
_ [C] _ _ _ It's [G] like crying by [C] _ _ [G] the six-kill
_ [C] _ _ _ _
[G] Cry, _ _ [C] _ _ [G] oh cry
When _ [C] _ _ [Em] _ _
_ the sun comes up I'll be on top
You'll be right there looking up
_ I'm on my way to come up here
I don't see you waving now
Way down here wondering how
I'm gonna get to you but [C] I know
I'll _ _ _ _ [G]
just cry, _ _ [Em] [C] I'll cry, [G] I'll just cry
Too [C] many teardrops for [G] one heart to [C] be crying
[Gm] Too many teardrops [C] for one [Em] heart [G] to carry on
You're [Cm] _ _ [C] _
gonna [G] cry 96 [C] kills
You're [G] gonna cry 96 [C] kills
You're [G] gonna cry [C] 96 _ kills
[G] You're gonna cry, [C] cry, cry, cry now 96 [Gm] _ kills
[C] Come on let me hear you cry
_ 96 [G] kills
[C] I _ wanna hear you [G] cry
_ _ [Cm] _ [C] _ [G] Crying in bed all [C] night long _ _
[G] 96 kills
Let me hear [C] you cry
Come on baby, cry, [G] cry
[C] All night long 96 [Gm] kills
_ [Em] _ [C] _ _ 96 [Eb] kills
[Em] So [Cm] _ [C] _ _ _
[Cm] _ _ _ [Gm] _ _ _ [C] _ [Em] _
[Eb] _ _ _ [C] _ _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ there was a rendition, have you, of 96 Tears.
It may be one of the hardest songs I've tried to get down
in maybe another four or five months.
_ _ Playing it maybe 50 times I'll actually have it.
