Hi [C#m] [A#]
[G] [C#m] [N]
everyone, my name is Pat Jackson and today I'll be teaching you how to play Advice by the Pillows.
Now for this song you're going to want some heavy distortion, a fuzz pedal preferably.
I have a Russian Big Muff, it's kind of beat up and everything but it still works and that's
what they use so if you've got one of those, great.
Fans of the show Furry Curry might recognize this as the battle theme from the show and
it's a pretty hard rockin' tune and it's pretty simple so let's get started.
There's really only two parts to this song, the main riff and the chorus [D] so let's get going.
Here's the main riff.
[C#]
The main riff is going from a [G] Bb to a G power chord [F] with an open E in between.
After that we go to a C sharp power chord sliding down to a [A#] normal C and we do this
three times like this.
[G] [E] Slow that down a little bit.
[C#] [C] [F] That slide's the tricky part, you might want to [C#] work on that if it's giving you issues.
[D]
That's the first riff.
The second riff is the chorus and it goes like [G] this.
We're starting on F.
[F]
[A] [A#] [F]
[A] [A#] [C#] [G]
The progression is the same each time.
It [F] goes F, A, [A#] Bb, [C#] C sharp, [C] C.
For [G] the lead guitar we're going to do it a little bit differently
because we want to get up high so we're [Fm] going to be going from an F to a barre A [D] then to
the Bb and then to the bends [F] like so.
[A] [A#] [D] From there we're going to go up to the [G] 11th fret and you're going to do a two string bend
here on the B and the G [G#] string and then down [G] to the 10th like [F] so.
[A] [A#] [B]
Then you [F] repeat it.
[A]
[F] [A]
[D] [B] Then we go back to the main riff.
[A#] [D]
[G] [N] So this brings us to the solo which is basically just noise.
The best way I've found to approximate it is get a wah pedal and start strumming like
mad on about the 15th fret of the B and G string.
That makes it sound about the best.
[Gm] Kind of like this.
[G]
[Gm]
[C#] [C#m] Towards the end there as you can [F] see I added the 15th fret of the E [G] string and I just kind
of started working my way up.
[A]
[Gm] [G] [C#]
That's about the closest I can [E] come.
It's basically just noise.
Get a wah pedal [D] and go to town.
And that's the entire song.
Put them together and have [C#m] fun.
Thanks for watching.
