Hello and welcome to Troglodyte Music.
Today we're going to be looking at the
John Mayer and the Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton cover of All Your Love.
This
was originally recorded back in like 58 I think by Otis Rush but the version
we're looking at is very much the Boomer Benz special version.
This is the
Blues Breakers version and there's Benz all over the place.
On the track
itself there's drums, bass and a few two guitars I think and a keyboard.
So what
I'm trying to do is, with all my videos this is not an exact note for note of
what everybody's playing, this is what I would bring to the table if I was to
play this song in a band where I was the only guitarist and I was expected to
cover the keyboard parts as well.
The bit that you'll notice that it's very
different from the original track is [F#] that swing section towards the end where
John Mayer's singing after the solo.
I'm much more choppy and open with the
chords just to give that fuller sound because the two guitars, one's doing a
riff and one's sort of chopping at chords and there's keyboards going on so
I'm just trying to make it a much bigger sound at that bit.
At the beginning
section there is the motif on the solo on the guitar, the melody and then I drop
out of that into the rhythm section on the second half of the phrase.
This is
again just trying to pad it out.
Later on at the very end the outro I don't jump
back to that rhythm I just stay on the solo.
You can hear that Clapton's
obviously quite pumped up at this point after those solos and he's pushing and
the distortion levels are high and he's driving it so [G] I just wanted to try
and get as much of that in as I could with the holding those big long sustained
notes where possible.
