Greetings out there in YouTube land.
This is Morris Mann.
As always a thank you guys for coming to my channel.
And today we're going to do another How to Play.
And the selection at hand is Betty White's classic Tonight is the Night.
This is one of the first songs that when I first started playing in the garage band that I learned with my band.
Everybody loves this song.
It's a classic, pretty simple song.
The only part is when they do that change part, trying so hard to relax but I just can't sit still.
The accents on that is kind of tricky and it's kind of hard to nail it.
But basically there's two sections to this song.
The first one is the verses [E] which is just two chords rocking [D] back and forth.
D minus 7 [Em] to E.
So [D] [Em]
[D] [G]
[D]
[F#m]
it's, oops,
[G] [G]
like I said that's just that [N] part is kind of tricky as far as timing.
But that part is, which is the bridge, [Bm] is B minus 7.
[G] Then it goes to G.
And it kind of sits on G [D#] for a moment because that's the key.
Hanging on that G a little longer than you did [G] with the prior chord.
[D] [G]
[D]
[F#m] [Em]
[D] [G]
[D] [G]
[Em] [D] [F#] That's the whole [A] song.
The whole song.
So [G#] hope [Gm] this was helpful.
[N] And like I said in my other DVDs, I'm not going to show you my fingers here, my fingers there.
I got DVDs that will show you all these chords that I'm playing to play these songs.
So if you're really interested in taking guitar playing to another level,
I strongly suggest it because I've discounted my DVDs.
They normally were $10 a piece which would be $40 for the pack.
But I've cut it in half for $25 plus shipping and handling, $27.
So it's affordable to anybody that wants to start to play guitar the right way.
Because trust me, you are not going to become a good [D] guitar player watching somebody get somebody's [G] fingers on the internet.
You just think you're going to become a [N] good guitar player by watching their fingers and not knowing why their fingers are there.
My DVDs walk you through the principles of using chords.
And if you can just learn 7 chords that I teach you, plus more,
but just mainly these 7 chords, major, minor 7, suspended 4, a few other ones,
you're able to play 99% of the stuff off the radio.
And I teach you these chords in 2 inversions, which is what [F#] I mean by that is,
[G] this is a G.
[F#] This is also a G.
[G]
Sometimes I forget.
This is a G.
This is a G.
You know, so, and this is a G major 7.
This is a G major 7.
2 different [N] inversions.
And the reason why you need to know 2 different inversions is because
the gal on the record might be [G] playing this G.
So you want to play this G instead of playing [Bm] this G.
So, you know, [F] at least you're good to know 2.
I know [N] about 5, actually, but I rarely ever use even 3.
Mainly just 2 inversions.
[G] The root that's built on the E string, and the root that's built on the A string.
Just [N] these 2 strings here, and I give you a chart in the DVD package.
You just look at the chart, and it'll walk you through these chords.
