It's like a kick and then a snare.

So we're doing A minor which is [Am] 5, 7, 7, 5, 5, 5.
_ _ [G] Then G, bar chord, G major, 3, 5, 5, 4, 3, 3. _ _
_ [D] And then a D minor which is fifth fret on the A string, _ 7, [Dm] 7, 6, 5. _
Then [Am] back to our A minor.
And [A] _

_ _ [D] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _
_ [Am] _ _ _ _ _ _ _

What he's doing is he's taking the A minor _ and playing it in this inversion. _

_ _ He's hitting this as the bass.
_ [Am] _ _ And then on the beat, on our snare part, [C] we're going to hit 5 and we're going to hammer on,
this is on the G string, _ _ we're going to hammer [D] on the seventh [Cm] fret and back off.
_ _ _ [D] _ _
All in one pick.
_ [Cm] _ _ [A] And then _ back on our bass which is seventh fret.
So twice on seventh fret, [Am]
hammer, _ pull off, [A] _ back to seventh.
_ _ [Am] _ _ [A] _ _ And we're just going to do [Em] these in the formations of [A] the chords.

_ A minor and then the G [G] is sliding down the 5 and then the 4.

You probably do [B] this because we're going to [B] hammer on, but we're just going to hammer
on the fifth [G] fret this time. _ _ _ _

And then [Bb] we slide up to the D minor and the best way to do [Am] that is just keep the same
A [Bb] minor _ and move it up [Dm] here to the twelfth fret.

[Em] But anyway, so that is the [A] verse _ and we're on the [G] last time. _

And here we are just holding a D minor. _ _

let's do [D] it.

_ [F] _ _ So we're in F, _ then we go [C] to C, _ _ then we're going [D] to slide up to D, _ [Dm] _ _

_ _ [Dm] So and the D [E] is a D minor.

we're going to slide up [Em] to the D.
[C] So _ _ hit it twice and then add a little _ _ this
[D] and then hit it one more time and slide up.

What [Cm] he's doing is he's going up here on the 13th fret, pressing it [Am] on the B string.
And he loves to do this.
Goes two frets higher on the G string and [N] bends up this G string to match the pitch
of this 13th fret.

Like that.
I'm just having this finger go like that. _

And he's on the 13th fret, [Bb] then the _ [Gm] 12th, then the _ [G] 15th, then the 10th.

[G] _ _ _ _ [Gm] _ _ And then instead of going to the 10th, he's going up to [B] the _ _ 17th fret of the _ _ high E.
Except this time he's not going to [Gb] _
_ _ [N] do that.
He's going to do this, _ the 20th fret.
_ _ _ [Bb] Because we're switching strings.
So it's going to sound like this. _

And that [G] is just the [E] little addition John Frusciante adds on there.
And he also does harmonies [C] of it and probably [E] does about two or three tracks of just that.
