How to play 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' intro (bass lesson + tabs) #TotalCliff chords
Start Jamming...
[G] Hi, friends!
It's Andriy Vasylenko, and this [Bm] is Total Cliff, the biggest tribute to [A] Cliff Burton.
And today we're gonna [D] do justice [N] to Who The Beatles intro.
It seems like what might be unclear about this lick.
It's so simple and so old.
Actually, there's more than meets the eye or the ear in this lick.
I made a lesson on the whole of Who The Beatles [G] where I showed how to play the intro in a correct way with a pull-off.
[N] I think this lesson is still relevant in general, so go check it out after watching this video.
And what's more?
I used to think that's [F#] it.
[C#] [D]
[E] But [N] all changed when I found the best quality Metallica stems.
It's isolated bass tracks from Guitar Hero.
Much better than ones you can find on YouTube.
So, here's the original bass track you might've heard.
[E]
[Em] [C#]
[G#] We can hear it's [G] Cliff's bass, Rickenbacker.
Here's Marley, [Fm] Powerwaff Boost as [N] a source of distortion and wow.
Also distortion, Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer, and probably delay.
And here's the track after some mixing manipulations.
[F]
[D] Do [G#m] you hear it?
This high [G] part is Cliff's playing tapped harmonics, like Poo In Poo's outro.
And we thought all [N] the time that's guitar.
It could've been an effect like Ibanez HD Rack which Cliff used for live performances.
[D#] [D]
[A] [D#]
But we clearly hear the snaps, [G] the clicks from tapping.
I told about how to play tapped harmonics in my first Anastasia lesson, check it out.
And now I just show you the lick and break it down into little pieces to learn.
[C]
[F#] [Gm] [C]
[G] [F#] [C]
[G] [F#]
[N] Play it slow, learning piece by piece and making those breaks together.
The biggest problem might be to mute unused strings from your moving hand
and vibrations from tapping.
All the vibrations go through woods and strings.
By the way, I'm not copying Cliff's sound.
This tune is my favorite, it's from Guitar Rig 5, preset God's Love.
It's a guitar by Steve Vai with some my personal settings.
[B] So, anyway, have fun practicing [C] and see you in the next video.
[G] Doing justice to Orion intro.
[A] This is Klazal Cliff, [G] enjoy playing!
[Bm] [A]
