[G] [F] Hi, I'm Glenn Ellen from iamanorchestra.com.
Today I want to show you how to play Cee Lo Greens' Forget [G] You.
We're going to skip the verse because it's [C] pretty easy and you [N] can find a tutorial for
that just about anywhere.
It's the bridge I want to focus on.
It's got some pretty cool licks in there.
First time I heard this song, this bass part, I was just like, what is happening in there?
And then I ended up auditioning for two different bands and I had to audition with this song
for both bands and so I really wanted to nail the bridge.
[Bb]
And I could not find a single tutorial where anybody got this part right.
I couldn't find a transcription or a tab anywhere.
So I just ended up getting a good pair of headphones on and just listening to it over
and over until I figured out what it really is.
So first I'm going to play [E] it for you.
[A] [D]
[G] [E]
[D]
[B] [G] [D]
[Bb] [G]
[A] [D]
[F] [G]
And back to the [C] chorus.
So other than that little flub I did there, that's pretty much how it goes.
Let me break it down for you.
So you're going to go to E [E] and you're going to do root, fifths, and octaves.
Root, fifth, octave, fifth, root.
Just low, middle.
And then you're going to do the exact same thing on the [A] A.
Root, fifth, octave, fifth,
root.
So [E] you put those together.
Then you're going to go from E, [D] E flat, D.
And you're going to hammer on from G to [A] A,
[D] back to D.
[E] So that's,
[A] I'm not doing it in time right now.
[D] And [G] then you're going to do a root, fifth, octave.
G, [D] fifth, [G] G.
[D] Walk up from D, D [E] sharp, to E.
Another root, fifth, octave.
[A] Then a series of octaves.
[C] [Db] [A] And then you land on D.
So that's A, B, C, [D] C sharp, D.
Here's where you do a sliding pentatonic scale.
Sliding pentatonic [Gb] [D] involves your index, [E] your ring, [Gb] sliding over [Bm] index, ring.
[A] A lot of great things you can do with sliding [G] pentatonic.
I like it for bass lines and riffs.
[D]
[E] [G] [D] Anyway, you do it on D.
So it's D, E, [Gb] F sharp,
[B] A, B, [A] A.
[Em] Then you're going to kind of decay
and slide back to this E, F, [Ebm] F sharp.
[D] Which is the tenth, or third, of D.
That's what you're doing.
So you're [B] going
[Gb] So slowing it down, it's
[G] And you slide down to G.
[D] Then we've got D, [F] and then F.
And actually there's a little
walk up in there I missed.
[Gm] It's real subtle.
G.
[D] Now we're going to hammer on from the D string, open string, to the second [G] fret.
G, [A] open, to second.
[C] [B] C, B, [G] A.
So [G] that's
[A] And then you've got a chromatic run from A, B, C, C [D] sharp, D, [F]
F.
[Eb] And instead of playing this G, you're going to do the upper octave G.
First dot here.
[G] Whoops.
Two and three and four and
And then that upper octave G.
[C]
And we're back to the chorus.
[Bb] And that's really all there is [Eb] to it.
I hope you enjoyed this video.
If you would like the tablature for it, I've got a link on the screen.
You go to iamanorchestra.com and whatever the rest of this link is going to be.
And there's going to be a few other tabs there.
I'm going to keep adding tabs over time, different tutorial videos just like this.
If there's a certain song that you just can't seem to work out or nobody has it right,
why don't you send me a comment and let me know what you'd like to see tabbed out.
There's also going to be some links you can download if you go to my site.
You can get my 5-minute fretboard technique videos.
And in the future there's going to be some other things.
I'm going to be showing some guitar lessons, maybe some drum stuff.
So stay tuned.
Thanks [N] for watching.
