Howdy do folks, this is Dustin Cormier and I'm how to rock a campfire I guess.
So today's lesson is a song by the Beatles called Get Back.
[A] I'm thinking [Am] it's about a moderate kind of difficulty.
There's no F's and there's no ugly [D#] chords in the [A] song.
It's literally all just [D] A, [A] G and D.
So it's [E] in the key of D.
[A] It's [Am] interesting how they do this song because [A] it's all A, and then [A] D, and then A.
And then they have a current G and a D.
That's how they [G] do that.
[A]
Another thing that they do that's key for this song is they're going from [F#m] the 5th to the 6th of [F#] both the A chord and the D chord.
[A] In order to do that, the easiest way I [E] find
[N] is to go from
They're having fun up there, believe it or [A] not.
You're going to go from your A chord.
I always do my A chords in this song.
You've seen me do this before with the A not bent at [F#] the first joint, but straightened out.
[A] That A chord, when you're doing it, is straightened out like so.
That's what allows you, it frees up this third finger to be able to go on to [E] the 4th fret of the D string.
[A]
And then you go from A
But to the D
[D]
[G] [A]
So you're going from that A.
When you go into the [D] D, you're going to basically do the same [A] thing.
You're going to play with the 5th and the [F#] 6th of the D [D] chord.
Now, the A note, which is the [A] note that your first finger is taking, the [G#] second fret of the G string, that's the third string coming up.
[Am] [D] That's this string.
[Em] That's this note.
You're going to go from this note, and you're going to use your pinky to go two frets up from that [A] note.
[D] You just do it [D] twice.
[A] And that's when you go back to the [G] A.
[A]
[A]
Now this is kind of a key part, what they're doing.
[E] This is kind of an acoustified thing that me and my buddies have always done.
And what you want to [F] do is you're going to go
For the chorus part, you're [A] going to go
So you're going to go A, [F#m] then the 6th like you've been doing, and then back to the regular A chord.
And then you're going to have a kind of
It's [C#] kind of weird how I'm doing it.
You beginners don't have to do [A#] this, by the way.
You can just [G] go
[A]
[G] [A] [G]
Get back!
Get back!
Get back to where you once were!
But what you want to do, once you've gotten bored of that and [Am] you want to spice it up a little bit,
this is what you're going to do.
[A] Get back!
Get back!
Get [A] back to where you once were!
[D] Get back!
So I'm doing my regular [E] A7, well my [C#] regular A chord,
and I'm adding my 3rd finger on the 3rd fret of that high E string.
[A] That makes the A7 chord.
Get back!
Get back!
Get back to where you once were!
[E] Often times, also for the chorus, what I like to do, if you can do this,
is when I go to the D [D] on the chorus, I'll use the D7th instead.
[D] Because I think that's [E] what they do.
[A] Get back!
Get back!
Get [D] back to where you once were!
[A]
Go right back into it, [Am] okay?
So I'm going to play the song [D#] through for you guys,
and I'm [F] going to let you guys pick up the rhythm as I play it through.
So this is Get Back [G] by The Beatles.
