[G] [A] [G] [D]
[A] [Gm] Hey guys, Guitar Pilgrim here and it's been a while since I last did a true old-fashioned tutorial
So today I will teach you how to play give a little bit by Supertramp
So much fun to play this one and to get started you only need three [D] chords
[A] [D] [G]
[A] [G] [A] Doesn't get any easier than that does it but it's the [A#] strumming that makes the song so recognizable
[D]
[A] [D] [N] Looks very complicated, but actually it's not too difficult.
All you need to do basically is a very simple pattern down [D] up down
[N] That isn't too hard is it but now you want to be able to do that [D] continuously
Almost
[G] [N] like riding a horse, isn't it?
And that's the basic strumming pattern for almost the entire song
Now all we need to do is just press down the right chord on the first three beats
It's the D chord, but on the fourth beat, we're gonna [D] press the A chord
[A]
[D] [A] [D] And [A]
[D] there you go, that's all we need to know to play the chorus grab your guitar here we go
[A]
[D] [G] [A] [G]
[A] [G] [D] [A]
[D] [G] [A] [G]
[A] [G] [Bm] I have to think of one song that really maybe touched me and really made me
Realize yet again the power of music and how it could change the world was all you need is love
by the Beatles and I think give a little bit maybe was my
Version of that in a way, you know, it's funny that the song starts with the chorus give a little bit
Which is a bit unusual because normally a pop song starts with the verse and then you work your way up to the chorus
But this song is totally different.
For example after the chorus now we get a section that starts with the B minor
[E] [G]
[Bm] [A] Nice chords here
And [Cm] notice from the B minor to the Esus4 I slide with two fingers ring finger and pinky [Bm] finger [Gm] [E]
and also [D] at the end
[A] my middle finger
[D] Now [A] once you can play the chords with the [A#] proper technique, then you add the strumming
But there are two ways to do it.
One is just to simply play the basic [Bm] strumming pattern
[E] or
You can make it a little bit more difficult and play a [Bm] variation
[E]
[G] a little bit [A] more exciting very slow what you want to do is simply this [E]
and
Believe it or not, but this is all you need to know to play the main part of the [D] song grab your guitar
Let's see if we can do it.
Here we go
[A] [D] [G] [A]
[G] [A] [G] [D]
[A] [D] [G] [A]
[G] [A] [G] [Bm]
[E] [A]
[G] [D] [A]
[D] Now [F#m] for the remainder of the song only two parts left.
One is the bridge start on an F sharp minor
[Bm]
Nice to do a bit of [C#] muting with the [F#m] left hand
[Bm]
[F#m] [G] Yeah, yeah, yeah
[C] [G] Again [D] such [A] beautiful chords
[D] finally
We get this beautiful
Fantastic outro.
Let's first look at the chords there
[G] [D] [D]
[G]
[D] [C] Beautiful even without the strumming but to do that strumming though
We just first need to practice [G#] on the D chord because there's a slight variation after four beats like [D] this
Once you [C] can do that, then you can add the [D] fancy chords one [G] two, three
[D] And that's it now a little bit faster
[C]
[G] [D] There you have it.
What an incredible beautiful song.
Let's see if you can play the ending the outro together
You can find the chord sheet as always on my patreon site grab your guitar
