[F] _ _ [F#m] _ [F#] What's going on, Gifted Hands family?
Today we are breaking down Jesus I'll Never Forget
slash He's Done So Much for Me, [F#]
the traditional congregational song.
We're going to be in
the key of F sharp major.
_ _ [G#] _ _ _ [F#] _ This song really has three main parts.
We have a chorus, Jesus
I'll Never Forget what you've done for me.
Then we have He's [A#] Done So Much for [C#] Me, I [F#] cannot
tell at all, [C#] I cannot tell at all, I cannot [G#m] tell at all.
_ _ We [F#] got that and then we got a
vamp part which is [D#m] never, _ never forget.
_ [F#] _ So we got three parts, chorus, verse, and vamp.
So let's dive into it.
It's going to be a nice and easy lesson.
So we're going to talk about
the harmony first.
We're going to start on the one and this is the chorus section. _
_ _ We'll just
start off with the major chord.
Jesus I'll Never Forget.
_ _ _ _ Then we're going to go to dominant or
just start with dominant.
Jesus I'll Never Forget, one dominant, [D#] what you've done [B] _ _ for _ _ me.
[F#] _ Back to the one dominant.
So one dominant, [B] four dominant, [F#] one dominant.
Anytime for any song when
you really want like a old school kind of churchy congregational traditional gospel vibe, you're
going to hear a lot of dominant chords.
So pay attention to that.
_ _ Jesus I'll Never Forget, one,
[B] what you've done, four [F#] dominant, back to the one. _ _
And then we're going to do one,
_ _ [G#] _ _
we're going to do like a three, _ _ [A#m] _ _ [D#] to the six.
_ _ _ _ _ [F#] Jesus I'll Never _ _ _ [D#] Forget, one, four,
_ _ [G#] _ _ [A#m] _ _ that's a three, [D#] _ six, _ [G#] to the two, _ two dominant, _ _ [C#] _
five, one to the five.
_ _ So we got so [F#] far,
Jesus I'll Never [E] Forget, one, [C#] four dominant, [B] _
[F#] back to the one.
_ And then [A#] one, three, [D#] _
six, [G#] how you set,
two dominant, [C#] me, three.
So [G#] we're going two [C#] to the five, _ _ all [G#] dominant, two dominant [C#] to the five
dominant.
And then we're going to [A#] hit three, we're going to hit [F#] the three as a passing chord,
we're going to hit three.
And then we're [D#] going to go six, Jesus I'll, _ _ [G#] _
two dominant, I'll never,
for [C#] _
five minor, _ _ [F#] _ one dominant.
[C#] And that's the [C#m] verse section.
And then we go into the chorus,
or sorry, that was the chorus.
And then we go into the verse, which is, [F#] He's Done So Much [A#] For Me.
_ _ We're going to start [F#] off kind of the same as we did in the chorus.
He's one, done so much for me,
going into one dominant, I [D#] cannot, _ _ _ four dominant, cannot tell it [F#] all, one dominant,
_ _ going to [G#] the two though this time around, two dominant, _ I [C#] cannot tell it all.
I like to go to
the five, [F] and I walk you down, five over four.
So _ five over four, [F#] I cannot, one over three,
_ _ [D#] _
_ _ six, dominant, [G#] _ two dominant, _ _ _ _ [C#] _ five, _ [F#] He's Done So Much For Me.
And when you get here,
there's a couple different ways we can approach this.
Because all we're doing is we're doing,
He's Done So Much For Me, we're trying to get to the [B] four, I cannot [F#] tell it all. _
_ All right,
so two different ways you could do, He's Done So Much For [G#] Me.
You do like a five minor [F#] to one
dominant.
He's done so much for me, _ [B] I cannot tell it [F#] all.
Back to the one.
_ Or you could just keep
it simple.
You could do, He's done so much for me, _ _ to the four, [D#] I cannot _ [Cm] _
tell it [F#] all.
_ Back to the one. _
[D#] And then he has, passing court, you can do that.
[G#m] _
[A#] Taken to _ [B] all [C] _ my sins, [D#] five, _ _ [F] _ [C#] five, [F#] one, _ three,
[B] four, _ [C]
sharp [C#] four, five, _ [A] five dominant. _
Okay, [D#] one more time.
[F#] He's done so much [A#] for me,
_ [F#] _ one [B] dominant to the four, I cannot tell it all.
[F#] One, _ [G#] _ [C#] two, I cannot tell it all.
[F] _ Five over, [C#] four, _
[F#] _ one over three, [C#] _ six, oops, [D#] _ _ _ six, [G#] _ two, [G#m] _ _ [C#] _ five, _ [F#] one.
_ [C#m] _ _ _ We'll do five minor, [F#] _
one [F#m] dominant,
_ [B] four, I cannot tell it all.
[F#] _ _ _ _ [D#] Six, _ [A#] two, _ [B] _ _ [Cm] _ _ _ _
[G#m] _ five, _ _ [C#] _ [F#] one.
_ [B] Three, [Cm] four, flat, _ [C#] _
five, four, three, [Cm] four, flat,
[C#] _
five.
_ Okay, so that's the basic chords, right?
So let's talk about how to approach those chords
though, same as we did in the verse, or same as we did in the chorus.
I keep getting the sections
mixed up.
_ We're pretty much gonna do the same thing.
We're gonna figure out ways to like
orchestrate the chords, kind of break them up and play them more rhythmically, right?
So,
[G#m] He's done so much for me.
[A#] _ _ What's that?
He's done so [A#m] much for me.
I'm following the melody line.
[G#] _ _ _ _
_ [A#] _ And [F#] then we're going from one to one dominant, right?
So I'm just gonna play this one [D#] dominant,
but rootless.
So [F#] this is a rootless F sharp dominant chord, right?
[D] And I'm walking [E] into
the seventh of that chord. _
It [A#] gives me a rhythmic [F#] feel.
One, _ [D#] _
_ _ [C#m] _ one dominant, _ _
