Hey guys, welcome to my class.
Today I'm going to teach you how to play Graveyard by McCafferty.
But first, just let me say, if you ever- if McCafferty ever comes to your state, make sure you go see him.
You do not want to miss seeing them.
They're amazing.
Uh, best show I've ever been to.
I've only been to three concerts, so.
But I've seen Fall Out Boy, with Able Nation, [F] 21 Pilots, and McCafferty.
And McCafferty
[Em] was just as good, if not better, than them.
And I got [G#] Nick's signature, uh, Evans and Wess'
And also, um, [N] [F#] and also Heart Attack Man.
I got the lead singer's signature.
Um, that's sick, look at that.
Um, okay, so today I'm going to teach you how to play Graveyard.
Uh, four chords in this song.
Uh, [G] all power chords.
It's gonna start with your first finger [G#] going on the fourth [C#] fret.
And [C#m] your pinky finger going-
Alright, that's the fourth fret of the A string.
Your pinky [E] finger going on the seventh fret of [C#] the D string.
And what you're gonna do, is you're gonna take the, um, like, bottom part of your hand here.
And you're gonna rest it [G] on, like, down by the bridge, on the strings right [E] here.
You're gonna rest it [A] right there.
And it'll create a muted [C#] noise like that.
Versus, [A] you're gonna rest it.
And then you're just gonna keep- you're gonna keep [E] your pinky there.
And you're gonna slide your first finger over to the fifth fret.
[C#] [D]
[A#] And then you're gonna move that up [Em] a string.
So, first finger on the fifth fret of the E string.
Pinky finger on the seventh fret of the [A] A string.
And then [F] you're gonna slide that first finger down again.
So it's [E] on the fourth fret, pinky [C] on the [E] seventh.
And you're just gonna keep playing that.
Again [C#] and again, uh, that's the intro.
Make sure you mute it.
So it's [G#]-
Prompt been blowin' up like she [D] never even saw it.
[A] Gun up to her head, [G#] come on baby make a promise.
[E] Just like that.
And then when [Em] he gets, uh, um, Astle's gonna act like he never even [G] saw it.
Uh, or never even caused it.
[A] Uh, once you play this part.
You're just gonna play it [Em] open once.
This, uh, last chord here.
Which is fourth and [G#] seventh on the E string.
You're just gonna play it open like that.
[C] So after the intro, uh, you're gonna play the same chord progression.
Um, but this time you're not gonna mute it.
And it's gonna sound-
You're gonna play, uh, through the chord progression twice.
[F#] And [A] it's gonna sound like this.
[D] [A]
[C#m] [C#]
[D] [A]
And then you go into the [G#] words.
[C#] Last thing she said is I am so [D] sorry.
But come on sweetheart, [A] don't give me apologies.
Where is my mom?
This can't be my mom.
Where is my dad?
This can't be my dad.
It's dark around here, so dark around [D] here.
I heard this song here [F] like ten times before.
[A] I've realized it now that I'm in the [G#] darkness.
Realized it now that you are the light.
[C#] It's dark around here, so dark around here.
I [D] heard this song here like ten times [A] before.
I've realized it now that I'm in the darkness.
[E]
[A]
[C#m]
[A] [C#] [B]
[A] [G#]
[A]
[G#]
Realized it now that you are the light.
I go [Em] on the A string.
You're [C#] going from fourth [D] to fifth.
[A] Uh, it's gonna sound [A] like-
And all you're doing there is after you go-
[E]
You're gonna just hold your fingers over all of the strings.
And just put [C#m]-
Mute it like that.
[E]
Um, and then when he gets to the I, hang out where I belong in the graveyard.
I hang out where I belong in the darkness.
Um, you're just gonna [A] play it on the first word.
And then it's gonna-
[B] You're gonna mute it.
And you can either palm mute it down here.
Or [E] you can mute it with your fingers up there.
It's really up to you.
I'm not sure how he plays it in the song.
Um, but either way it sounds good.
Um, yeah you're gonna mute it.
[G#] Uh, the first couple [A] times.
And then you're gonna play it open.
[D] [A]
It's pretty [E] much the whole song.
It's the intro where you mute it on here.
And then the chorus [A] where you go from.
Uh, on the A string.
[E] Or you mute it like that.
And you're doing that every time.
[F#] That you change [D] from this chord to this chord.
[Em]
So there you go guys.
That's graveyard.
If you liked this give it a thumbs up.
If you want more guitar lessons let me know in the comments.
I'm gonna do, uh, When the Lightning Hit EP.
And then I'll be moving on to Beach Boy.
But if there are any songs you wanna hear in between there.
Just let me know in the comments.
