Phil Hunt here again.
Somebody sent me an email and asked me if I knew how to play the intro to Jerry Reed's guitar man
Yes, I do whoever that was I don't remember who it was but I'm going to explain
The intro to you and break it down for you and just show you how Jerry does that first of all Jerry in guitar, man
It's originally off the album the unbelievable guitar and voice of Jerry Reed.
He is tuned down one step
It's not standard tuning so and also the tuning is different [Fm] the tuning [D#] is [Cm] E
C sharp [F#]
G
[G#m] A [C#] drop D.
Okay [D#] kind of [F#] sounds weird, but that's what it is.
Okay, and Jerry starts [Fm] it off
[N]
First finger
seventh fret of the B string and like your pinky on the
tenth fret of the G string and
Remember that Jerry plays with these two fingers together.
Okay, [Em] you'll see how I do that [C#] Slides it
Okay, [G#] so it kind of keeps the same position like three times where it [Em] goes
[C#]
[C#m] [C#]
Separate there it changes that is the
[F#] Second string fifth fret [C#] and the third string seventh fret
so [C] it's got [C#] that
Okay,
[F#] [G] [G#]
[N] but he ends on you got the three bass [F#] notes there, [G#]
but you also have this chord here
Okay, [A#m] and the chord is
your [N] third fingers on the
third finger, I mean your middle finger is on the
Seventh fret of the top string then your ring finger is on the seventh fret of the
D string [G#]
and then your
[A#] First finger is kind of born across the third string and the second string on the [G#] sixth row
and [Fm] your pinky [C] is on the
eighth fret [B] of the [G#] second string
So it should sound like this
You're kind of mutant you're not even hitting the a string
[F#] [Gm] [G#]
[F#] [G#] So, [G#m] let's try that I'm gonna break it down [Em] real slow
[C#] [C#m]
[Gm] [G#] But [N] Jerry plays it extremely fast well not extremely fast, but he does play it [C#] faster
[G#] [C#]
[C#m] [F#] [G#]
[N] Okay, now let me just play Jerry real quick and you'll hear what I'm talking about just to show you how [A#] fast he is playing it
[C#]
[F#] [G#]
[A#] Okay, so now [C] you get an idea that's how fast Jerry's [C#] playing it
Okay, [G] [G#]
[C#] I'm gonna play it slow for you one more [C#m] time
[C#] Okay, [C#m]
[C#] [F#] [G#]
[F] so now
[A#m] you know you guys can try that [N] and
I'll be back to show you another Jerry tune
The next one I'll probably do is somebody requested if I knew Jerry's take a walk.
There's a take a walk
video of Jerry that
someone posted on YouTube and
[E] I'll try to learn that one show it to you.
Okay.
Take care
