My name is Luke and I'm back with you for another harmonica lesson.
And this time we are going to check out the song which I was just playing which is the
riff from a great song entitled If You Want to Get to Heaven.
And I was not familiar with this song before someone from the online community asked me
what was going on and I checked out the song.
Pretty cool harmonica riff.
A lot of fun to play.
Plus the lyrics are awesome.
If you want to get to heaven you gotta raise a little hell.
Okay so I've got an F harmonica here.
I am playing in second position cross harp and we are starting on the two draw bent down
a whole step. _
_ [C] _ _ _ _ When we release the two draw _ we are going to also be drawing on holes one and three as well.
So [Bb] it's_
[C] _
_ _ [Gm] And so we are going to pull twice or articulate twice.
I'm using my tongue for the second one.
And so _ drawing in on the two bent down a whole step.
Releasing it.
Allowing myself also to be drawing on holes one and three.
And then using_
I'm bouncing my tongue actually off ta. _
[C] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
So_
_ _ _ _ _ That's what I'm doing behind the harmonica.
And then _ _ [E] _
_ _ [Eb] I'm blowing on the bottom three holes and saying ta-ka-ta.
_ _ _ [C] _ _ [F] _
_ _ _ [D] _ _ So _ _ it's_
_ _ Then we are going up to the three draw _ and _ _ after we draw on the three draw we are going
to bend it down a whole step.
_ _ _ _ _ [C] _ _
[Ab] _ So [C] _ _ [F] _ _ _
_ _ _ it's_
Okay so we are bending it down a whole step.
Then we are drawing again on holes one two and three.
And then blowing on one two and three.
So the whole thing thus far sounds like this.
[G] _ Nice and slow.
[Ab] _ _ [C] _ _ _ [F] _ _
_ [B] _ _ _ _ [F] _ _ _
_ Okay.
_ Then sort of like we did at the beginning with the drawing.
Now we are going to do with the three draw _ again.
[B] _ _ And bending it down a whole step again.
_ _ [C] _ _ _ [Bb] _ And then we are drawing twice on holes one two and three.
And blowing and saying ta-ka-ta again.
So the whole thing thus far sounds like this.
_ _ [C] _ _ [F] _
_ _ _ [C] _ _ _ [E] _ _
[C] _ _ [F] _ _ _ _ And then the last thing we do is the second thing we did which is drawing on the three
hole bending it down a whole step.
And then drawing on holes one two and three and blowing one more time.
Like we did previously. _

Okay.
And then that's the whole riff.
So I'll do it for you nice and slow.
They're moving right along in the actual song.

I mean that's the whole thing that kind of goes throughout the entire song.
And it's a lot of fun to play.

What I can do maybe is play it for you starting very slowly and then we'll kind of slowly
increase it and get it up to somewhere around record tempo.

We're back to our good friend the three draw down a whole step which if you haven't seen
the other videos on it I talk about in depth quite a bit that that's one of the most challenging
things to do on the harmonica.
So this is another great opportunity to practice that bend and if you're having trouble with
that part of it _ _ _ don't feel bad.
That's not an easy thing to do and I'll put the link to some other [D] videos that might be
able to help you with that part of it.
But hopefully this gets you going on the song if you want to get to heaven.
