_ _ [E] _ _ [Gb] _ _ [N] Hello, welcome to Bite Size Piano.
In this video I'm going to teach you how to play Memories
by Maroon 5.
So we're going to be trying to imitate what the guitar part is doing on the
piano.
So it's the same progression all the way through, just exactly what you heard in
the preview.
And like in all my videos I've tried to be specific and accurate about the
voicings of the chords as well, to try and make it sound as much as the song as we can.
If you're
brand new here please consider subscribing, I would love to have you here learning from my
tutorials.

And a huge thank you to all my Patreons who support me so far.

And I do take piano tutorial requests.
This one
was a request at the very very end of this video.
There are some very flat instructions on how you
can request one from me.
So let's dive into the tutorial.
[Db] So this one's in the key of B major.
So
on the screen now are all the notes to the scale of B major.
So it's five sharps, it's quite heavy
on the black notes this one.
[C] _ _
[Ab] _ _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ [B] _
So the [N] melody and the chords are formed just using those notes.
It's a
chord progression of eight different chords that's repeated the entire way through the song.
So I'm
going to teach you the left hand first.
So first of all [C] here is middle C.
So we're [Fm] going to be starting
in the left [B] hand from the B [C] just below middle C.
So [B] first of all we have B, _ F sharp, [Gb] _ _ _ _ _ _
F sharp, _ _ [Abm] _ _ [Ab] G sharp, _ [Eb] D sharp, _ D sharp.
_ So I'll [B] just do that what we've done so far. _ _
_ _ [Gb] _ _ _ _ _ _
[Ab] _ _ [Eb] _ _ _ _ So the [B] timing of that goes one and two [Gb] and three and four and [Ab] one [Eb] and two and three and
four and.
And then the next bit you're going to play [E] E, [B] B, _ B and _ [E] then back to E and B, [B] _ _ [Gb] F sharp.
_ So all in [N] the same rhythm.
So I'll join all that together. _ _ _ _
[Gb] _ _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ [Eb] _ _
_ _ _ _ [E] _ _ [B] _ _
_ _ _ _ [B] _ _ [Gb] _ _
So _ [B] _ _ _ [Gb] _ _
_ _ _ [Eb] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [B] _ _ _ _ _ _
[E] _ _ _ [Gb] _ _ _ _
[D] the right hand then, I'm going to play it with the left hand.
So none of it is actually played hands together.
It's all hands separate, so alternating hands.
So it does make it easier to put together.
So when the left [B] hand has gone
_ _ [Gb]
the right hand is going to play [B] B and [N] D sharp _ _ and then it's going to come down and then [Gb] play _
F and C sharp _ after you've [Bb] played the F [B] sharp in the left hand.
So so far we've got _ _ [Gb] _ _
_ _ _ [B] one and two [Gb]
and three and [Eb] four and.
And then it comes up to the G
sharp in [Ab] the left hand _ _ [Eb] and then we have G sharp and [Abm] B in the right hand and [Eb] then D
sharp in the left hand [Cm] and then D sharp and F sharp in the right hand.
[Ebm] _ [B] So I'll join all that together. _
_ _ _ _ [Gb] _ _ _ _
_ _ [Ab] _ _ [Abm] _ _ [Eb] _ _
_ [Ebm] _ [E] And then the next bit, so then this is when the E, the left hand comes down to the [E] E and [B] _ you're
going to play E and G sharp in the right hand [B] and [E] _ _ [B] then down to the B.
You're going to play B and D
sharp in the right hand and then back to the E [E] in the left hand.
[B] _ _
[E] _ [Gb] E and G sharp, _ F sharp in the left hand
[B] and then F sharp and A sharp in the right hand.
So I'll do all that together very very slowly. _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[Ab] _ _ _ _ [Eb] _ _ _ _
[Ebm] _ _ _ [B] _ [E] _ _ [B] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [Gb] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [Ab] _ _ _ _ [Eb] _ _
_ _ _ [E] _ _ _ [B] _ _
_ _ [E] _ _ _ [Gb] _ _ _
_ [B] _ _ [Gb] _ _ _ _ _
[Ab] _ _ [Eb] _ _ [Ebm] _ _ [E] _ _
[B] _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ [Gb] _ _
And then a bit quicker.
[B] _ _ [Gb] _ _
_ [Ab] _ _ [Eb] _ [Ebm] _ _ [E] _ _
[B] _ _ [E] _ _ [Gb] _ _ _ _
[B] _ _ [Gb] _ _ _ _ [Eb] _ _
[Ebm] _ _ _ [B] _ _ _ [E] _ _
[Gb] _ _ _ [N] So if you want to learn just the chords instead of playing it in trying to imitate the guitar.
_ So the first chord is [B] B major, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ the second chord is F sharp major, _ _ _ _
the next chord is [Abm] G sharp minor and _ _
_ [Ab] then we have D sharp minor, [Ebm] _ _ _
_ [Eb] _ E major and [E] _ _
_ _ _ then B [B] major, _
_ _ back to E major [E] and _ _ then F sharp major [Gb] again. _ _ _
_ _ _ _ So then you could play more something along the lines
of [B] this.
_ _ [Gb] _ _
_ _ [Abm] _ _ [Ebm] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [B] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [Gb] _ _ _ _ [B] _ _
_ [Gb] _ _ _ _ [Abm] _ _ _
[Ebm] _ _ _ _ [E] _ _ [B] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Gb] _ _ _
_ So just sort of messing around with [B] the notes in the left hand.
_ _ [Gb] _ _ [Db] _ _
[B] _ _ [Eb] _ _ [Bb] _ _ _ [B] _
_ _ _ [E] _ _ _ [Gb] _ _
_ [Db] _ So that concludes the
tutorial.
