Hey guys, today I'm going to be teaching you how to play Music for a Found Harmonium by
the Penguin Cafe Orchestra.
Alright, so first things first, everything is in standard tuning.
[D] [Em] [Gb]
Now we're going to come up here and we're going to use this formation right here.
So we're going to have our middle finger on the 3rd fret of the A string,
[A] pointer [Em] finger on the 2nd fret of the D string.
So it's going to look like [Gb] that.
And the strumming pattern is going to be down, up, down, up, down.
[N]
That's going to be the strumming pattern.
And so on our second time coming up, we're going to use [Ab] this ring finger
and put it on the 3rd fret of the D string.
[C] So it'll be down, up, down, [F] up, [C] down, up, down.
[C] [Em]
[C]
[N] Now after playing that three times, what you're going to do is you're going to leave this finger here,
but [D] you're going to play the D string open.
[B] So it's going to go down,
[D] up, [C] down, [B]
[C] [G] [D]
and then this pointer finger is going to go back to [E] the 2nd fret
and it's going to go up, [C] down.
[Bm] So that's [G] going to sound [Bm] like
[C]
[D] [C]
[D] [B] [Eb]
So that's what the first section is going to sound like.
And then after that, what he does is he goes down, open D string [C] again, [D] down, up, down,
[A] then he just repeats it.
[C]
[E] And he does that twice.
And then on the 3rd time, he puts this finger right back on that 2nd fret of the D string.
So it's [C] going to [A] go
[C] [B]
[C] And then to finish off that little [B] phrase,
he's going to take this ring finger, [F]
put it back on the 3rd fret of the D string.
[B] So it's going to go [F] up,
[Cm] down, you [C] lift this off [Gb] so it's back to that [Ab] 2nd fret,
[C] up, down, open [D] D, [C] up, down, 3rd fret [F] D, up, [C] down, 2nd fret D, up, down.
Then you play the A string two more times and then go right back [A] into it.
[B]
[F] [C]
[F] [C]
[A] [C] [Eb] So that's the 2nd part of that.
It's pretty neat actually.
And now we're going to move up to the neck of the guitar.
So we're going to start on the [B] 6th fret of the [E] A string
and then we're going to hit the 6th fret A string, [Gm] 8th fret D string.
[Ab]
[Eb] So
[Eb]
[Bb] Down, up,
[Eb] down, [A] [B] down, [F] down, [Eb] down, down.
[D] [Eb]
[D] [Eb]
[Ab]
So that's what that's going to sound like.
And then basically what we do from here is almost the exact same thing
except for we're really just changing one note.
So instead of hitting the [Gb] 8th fret of the [C] D string down there,
we're going to hit the 6th fret of the D string.
And how I do that [Eb] is I play this note, 6th fret A string,
[Ab] and then I just bar it with the same finger.
So he [Eb]
[Ab] [C] [Eb]
[C] [Eb] plays that four times, then he does the exact same thing
but uses the 9th fret of the D string.
[Abm]
[Bb]
Does that [Ab] four times and then goes right back into [C] the beginning.
[A] [C]
[Eb] So that's the [N] whole song.
You have [G] the very beginning, you have the [C] end to that little intro,
and then his next phrase.
[A]
[C]
[Fm] [C] [D] [F]
[C]
[Ab] [B] And then you have the phrase down [Eb] here.
[Abm] [D]
[E] And then [Ab] almost the exact same thing, but you're hitting the 6th fret of the D string.
And then after you play that four times, you hit the 9th fret of the D string.
And there you go, that's the entire song.
It's pretty simple, but it's not super easy.
So [Gb] your fingers will probably have to get used to moving quickly [Ab] back and forth.
So, you know, that just comes with practice.
[D] And the strumming pattern is [E] pretty simple throughout the whole thing.
You're really only [Ab] using these two strings, nothing else.
Okay, so there you go.

[B]
[F] [C]

[A] [C] [Eb] So that's the 2nd part of that.

[Eb]

_ _ [Eb] So_
_ _ _ [Eb] _

_ [Ab] _ _ [C] _ _ [Eb] _ _ _
_ _ _ [C] _ [Eb] _ plays that four times, then he does the exact same thing _
but uses the 9th fret of the D string.
_ _ [Abm] _
_ [Bb] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ Does that [Ab] four times and then goes right back into [C] the beginning.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [A] _ [C] _ _ _ _
[Eb] So that's the [N] whole song.
You have [G] the very beginning, you have the [C] end _ to that little intro,

[A] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[C] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[Fm] _ _ _ [C] _ _ [D] _ _ [F] _

_ _ _ [Ab] _ _ [B] And then you have the phrase down [Eb] here.
