[G] Hi there, welcome at your guitar workshop.
My name is Andre and today we're going to
do a [N] song by Black Sabbath called Paranoid.
I guess it's one of their most famous songs
so grab that electric guitar and let's get started.
It's pretty easy, you put your index finger on 12th position on the 6th and 5th string
and you play [A] them both.
Then with your ring finger you make a hammer-on on 14th position
on [B] the A string.
[A] So like [E] this.
In the first bar you play that three times, so like this.
1, 2, 3, 4.
[Abm] Then you make a bunch of hammer-ons, so you play index finger 12th position on
[A] the A string, hammer-on to 14th with your [B] ring finger and you do the [G] same on the D string
[E]
and the same again on [A] the A string.
[B]
Then you [Em] play [E] index finger 12th position [D] on the D string
and then ring finger 14th position on the A [B] string.
So like this.
3, [A] 4.
[Bm]
[A] [Bm] [B] And the down and up stroke should [A] be like [Bm] down, [A] down, [Bm] down, [B] down, up.
[A] So the intro, we're already at that, goes like this.
3, 4.
[E] [A] [G]
[A] [Bm] [E]
[D] [A] [G] [B]
[E] Ok, so now on to the verse.
And the verse is just a combination of a couple of chords.
So you play first, you play the E power chord in 12th position to the D power chord in 10th [D] position.
Then you play [N] G power chord in 10th [G] position to [E] D power [D] chord in 10th position [Am] [D] to E power chord in [E] 12th position.
So like this.
1, 2, 3, 4.
[D]
[E]
And after [N] that last E power chord, you play 12th position on the D string and 12th position on the G string.
[G] So [Gm]
that last bar goes like this, [D] [E]
then you repeat it again.
So the verse should sound like this.
1, 2, 3, 4.
[D]
[E]
[D]
[E] And then instead [Bb] of at the end of that playing again that 12th position on the D and [G] G string,
you just play the [A] [B] E [E] string open twice.
So like [G] this.
[D] [E]
I forgot to mention that when you play the verse, of course, that E power chord, everything is palm muted.
So like this.
[D] D power chord.
[Eb] And then the accents are played open.
[D]
[E] So that's good to keep in mind.
I'm not really sure about, because I noticed that the tab says that you play the power chord
and you play both tones and you palm mute them.
But it could just as well be that you just play the bass note.
So like this.
Sometimes to me it just sounds [B] like they're just playing a bass note, so they're not playing the other one so heavy.
But just listen to it yourself and maybe you [G] can decide how you want to play it.
And then you play the following thing.
E power chord, [E] 12th position.
Then drag it [Bm] to [F] C power chord in [C] 8th position.
Then play D power chord in [D] 10th.
[Am] And then E power chord again, which is now palm [E] muted.
That's repeated.
[C]
[D] [E]
Okay, so now for the chorus.
Chorus is also very basic.
You just play E power chord in 12th position.
Then you play [D] D power chord in 10th position.
[E] Back to E.
[D] And back to D.
And you just play them open, long notes, [F] 2 bars each chord.
So like this.
1, 2, 3, [E] 4.
1, 2, [D] 3, 4.
1, 2, 3, [E] 4.
1, 2, 3, [D] 4.
1, 2, 3, 4.
And then you get all the regular rhythm parts.
I'm not going to do the solos today.
I am going to do it at some point, but not today.
I am going to do a different tutorial for that.
I hope you enjoyed it and I hope to see you again sometime.
Well, [Gm] that's it for today.
I hope you [C] enjoyed that.
Check the [G] website for more information.

Keep practicing, keep playing.
[Dm] And I hope to see you again [Bm] sometime.
