Hi, this is a permafrost tutorial video because everyone's been yelling at me to give you the chords, but it's not that simple
It's pretty simple um if you're not interested.
That's okay, but if you're a Vancouverite, please skip to the end because I have some information
Okay, okay, so we're gonna start off with the capo on third fret
If you don't have one you can make one out of a pencil and an elastic
It's quite easy, so you're going to go to the one two three four five sixth fret
So now you have two fingers like this on
The highest string and then you put your middle finger
So now you've built the shape
The strumming is quite easy you go on
The string your middle finger is on
And fool around and you'll find it so
Sometimes I feel like I'm permafrost
Now you're gonna go down [D] one fret and you're gonna take off your pinky
[A]
Alone in the tundra and really lost
down again
[Gm] And to think that this is how I feel
And now you're gonna go down again [F] and take off your little finger [Bb] like the ground is melting and nothing's real
You're gonna do it again and [Am] in [Bb] the tide everybody knows
That [A] you shouldn't wonder where the hemlock grows
The land is vast and the wind blows fast
Won't [Bb] you stay with me if the darkness lasts
Now for the kind of course thing you're gonna go to a C chord [Eb] I know I have nothing to give
So may as well give up and [C] live
And then you're gonna do it [Bb] again and again
You say I'm breaking your friend's heart
[A] But meanwhile you're tearing mine apart
So [Gm] stop asking me if she loves you
If [Bb] it's charm you have and it's courage you love
Now to a C
[Eb] But I want your love and I want it now
And the next chord
Is kind of [Bb] a good a G chord, but I'm gonna play it with only the middle finger and the ring finger like this
So [Eb] but I want your love and I want it now
[Bb] I'd ask you for but I don't know how I
[Eb] Wanna say love you and I want to know
[Bb] I'd say I love you, but I don't know how
[Eb] It's dumb
It's dumb
[Bb] Now to a G
[Bb] So the song is kind of lower here.
It's basically the same notes, but we're playing [D] them lower
So [C] we're gonna play just the middle [Bb] finger on the E string
And I remember when we were the best
Now you're gonna go down one fret
In the [F] boreal forest down the winter and then you're gonna add your finger here
Now E minor I put my [Gm] head on your shoulder, but you moved away
Back to the other shape
Said I wasn't tired anyway
C
[Bb] I [Eb] pretended that I didn't care
[C] But [Bb] I hit a few trees behind a lock of hair I
[Eb] was tired and I needed sleep
[Bb] So I swore my pride and I changed
Yeah
Yeah
[Bb] Angie
See so [Eb] I'd rather you make up your mind
[F]
[Bb] little faster
It's such a waste of time.
So [Eb] I'd rather you make up your mind
Little [F] faster
[Bb] You're such a waste of time
So all along you can do this in any song ever
You can just take off your second finger from the G chord
Just add a little variation
now see
[Eb] You wanted more [Bb] but you needed less
Cuz [Eb] you think that you're better than the rest and I wanted less
But [F] I needed more [Bb] cuz you left all I had on the forest floor
[Eb] I didn't mix bars with the lakes galore.
You always left me wanting [Bb] more
I didn't mix bars [F] with the lakes [Bb] galore.
You left my heart on the forest floor
[Eb]
[Bb] [Eb] [Bb]
I
[Eb] Know I have
Nothing to give so may as well give up and live
[Bb]
[C] To all of you in Vancouver, I'll be in your rainy city quite soon
