I'm Dan with HD Piano and we are here with HD Piano student Lorenzo,
who's going to tell us about his journey playing on stage with Chris Martin of Coldplay.
Hi, I'm Lorenzo and I play the song I learned on HD Piano [Ab] with Coldplay on stage.
[Fm]
[Db] [Eb]
[Ab] One day I saw that [G] famous video of Coldplay calling a fan to play [Fm] in Munich.
So he went on stage and played [Db] Everglow [Eb] and I thought I have to try to do this someday.
It became my life's dream.
Okay, maybe there's [Ab] a chance that one day I can play
with Chris Martin on stage.
I'm going to do everything I [Eb] can [Ab] to try.
And so I went back to HD Piano to kind of review the Hardest Part tutorial to see if I was doing
it correctly or not.
And then I practiced it so much, so much, so much over the,
mainly over [D] the weeks before the show.
[Eb] And then I made the postcard and [Ebm] then I [Gm] went
very early.
I was roughly 12 hours in the queue.
[Bb]
[Bbm] [Gb]
[Bb]
I'd love to be able to put that into words.
[Bbm]
Did [N]
Chris say anything to you on stage?
When you got up there, was he like,
hey, hey chap, hey mate, how you doing?
What was the exchange like out there?
I remember the first thing was he asked my name.
Then he asked if I was from Coimbra or not.
I said I was [Bb] from Lisbon.
[N]
[Ebm] He was like, okay, not too fast.
All [Bbm] right, let's go.
Okay, here we [Bb] go.
No rehearsal.
All right.
[C] [Eb]
[Gm] [Cm]
[Eb]
[Bb]
[F] [Gm]
[Eb] [Bb]
[Dm] Then [Gm]
[Eb] [Gm] [Bb]
somewhere through the middle of the song, he [Gm] goes like,
[Eb] [Bb]
[Dm] [Gm]
[Eb] [Gm] [Bb]
[Dm] [Eb]
[Bb]
[Eb]
[Bb]
[Eb]
[Bb]
[F] And by the [Gm] end, [Bbm] he [Eb] just hugged me and said, you were [Cm] great.
Thanks.
That's so cool.
That's so cool.
Wow.
Well, you get to give beginner piano players,
if you had to give them some advice, say like three tips, if you could come up with three
tips, what would those tips be?
Or what comes to mind when I say that scenario?
Well, first I would tell them to search HDCAM.
My biggest tip would be [N] to learn songs that you love, because there's such a drive that you get.
You get so much energy when you're doing songs that you are enjoying to do.
Because you were asking me earlier if the songs were easier or not.
When I was doing Coldplay songs or other songs from bands that I love,
I really didn't care if they were hard or not, because I was enjoying it so much.
So the biggest tip would be that would be to do songs that you love.
Also to show people what you're doing.
And maybe if you learn a song, play it to someone.
I love how it impacts other people.
One of my favorite things was when I play someone a song
that they like and to see their reaction and how much they're enjoying it.
The main message
from HDCAM is inspiring people to do this, whether they have learned in the past or not.
Anyone can do this if you really want it and if you try and if you put the time in.
And that's kind of what happened as well [C] with this episode with Coldplay, which was
I really didn't know if I was gonna have [F] success or not, but I put the time [Am] in, I put the effort in.
[G] The feedback I [C] got in general was [G] that it was so inspiring.
[F] I mean that [Am] I got messages from
teachers [G] showing the video in classes, from [Am] moms showing it [G] to their kids, [F] because they said it was
so [Am] inspiring that [G] it [Em] was worth sharing.
[G] And I see [F] a lot of similarities with [Am] what you do.
And so I'm glad [G] we have this story to tell.
[F] [Am] [G] [C]
