Alright guys, this is Amos, Doll Music and in today's lesson, I'm going to teach you
how to play the very awesome song by Queen called We Will Rock You.
It's really awesome.
I'll give you a preview.
We're [E] pretty much going to learn the whole thing.
There's like the two sections of it, the verse and then the chorus section.
I'll give you [F] a preview.
This is what you're going to learn.
Check it out.
It goes like [E] this.
Check it out. _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[Em] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ Okay, so let's get right into it.
So, [Abm] this is how we're going to do it.
Firstly, we're going to teach you the bass note and the melody version first.
So it's a lot easier first.
So it's for beginners to learn first because the rhythm, you kind of have to chain it a
little bit because it requires a little bit [D] of hand independence.
The left hand is always [F] doing that. _
It's kind of imitating.
[E] The left hand is like _ [F] low, low, high.
That's like the stepping on the ground twice.
_ And then the high note is representing that clap.
But anyways, [Em] regardless, we'll learn that at the end.
[N] We'll first learn the melodies first.
So here we go.
Let's learn the verse first.
The verse has a lot of notes.
So make sure to get a piece of paper and write down all the notes so you can kind of look
at it and just practice it for [Eb] yourself.
So this is how we're going to do it.
Right hand, the verse melody goes like this.
So listen.
[E] So it goes_
D E E D E E D E E E D _ _ _ E E D E E D E [Am] E up to A [G] G G [B] down to B D [E] E E [D] D E E up to A G
G D [E] E E D E E E 3 D's.
1 2 3 and on a D [B] B [A] A [Em] G [E] E E.
And that's it for the right hand.
Okay?
So let's do it again.
So it goes like [Bm] this.
So it goes_
[E] D E E D E E D E E E D _ _ _ E E D _ E [A] E up to A [G] G G B [E] D E E [Dm] [E] D E _ D E E _ _ [D] D D D _ [B] E [A] E A G [E] E E.
And that's it for the right hand.
So practice that, okay?
Because that's pretty important.
[D] Left hand, we're [G] firstly going to just do it as octaves.
The left hand.
So yeah, because there's the [F]
repeating pattern for it.
The rhythmic pattern.
I'll teach that at the end of the lesson, but it's still based off the octave.
Because it's playing [Bb] the octave notes.
So what you want to play, all the left hand [Ebm] notes are the [E] E notes.
E octave, okay?
Or you can go an octave lower.
Like that.
It sounds better when it's low, okay?
So play it here if you can.
Some of you have smaller keyboards, so you might not be able to play that well.
So it's up to you, it doesn't matter.
[F] But all of the notes on the left hand in the [A] whole lesson is all [Ab] this bass note, [E] octave E.
So remember that.
So this is what we're going to do.
We're going to place the main [Fm] beats.
We'll teach you where to place it.
So [E] it goes_
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [Em] _ _ _ [E] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ And that's it for the verse section, okay?
So let's go ahead and do it one more time.
So pay attention, do it again.
It goes_ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [Em] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _
_ _ _ Like that, okay?
So we're going to practice that main beat, and I'll also do it up to speed afterwards, okay?
So, _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [Em] _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ like that.
Awesome stuff, okay?
So there you have it.
So what you want to do after that, this is what we're going to do.
Okay, so_
_ We'll learn the other chorus section [Gb] first because it's easier as well.
So once we finish learning that chorus section, we'll [F] do that rhythm pattern, okay?
So right hand for the chorus, we will rock you.
It's really easy.
It's pretty much only six [Bbm] notes, play it twice.
It goes up to the high [Em] G here.
So_
[Bm] _ _ [E] _
_ _ _ That's it, repeat it again.
[G] _
_ _ [D] _ _ _ _ _ _
[Em] That's it, simple, okay?
Left hand, [F] same thing, so it's just the octave bass [E] note.
So what you want to do is play_ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ And that's it, repeat. _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ That's it, [A] okay?
So learn this first, make sure you get all of this melody and the bass [Eb] note placed at the correct places.
And then you can start to do this rest of the lesson where you do that pattern, okay?
So the pattern is really easy.
This is what the pattern is, okay?
So for the octave bass note, you [Bb] want to play the lower note [E] twice, followed by the higher note.
So it's like_
_ So like the top note is counted for the third and fourth count.
So it's always_
_ _ _ _ And do an octave lower.
One, two, three, four.
One, two, three, four.
One, two, three, four.
One, two, three, four.
And you [F] put this pattern into the song.
And then it will be a little bit hard because it requires a little bit of hand independence
since the left hand is doing its own rhythm and right hand is doing its own melody, okay?
And it's not an easy melody because it's kind of like interweaving between the beats as well, okay?
So it sounds something like this if you can [E] get it together like this.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [Em] _ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ That's it. _ _ _ _ _
Alrighty, so yeah, really fun song, okay?
It's good to train up the rhythm for that.
It's not a difficult song in terms of notes.
You [F] can see that the left hand is only like two notes here,
but the main thing that is difficult is coordinating your hands to do those two separate things, okay?
But anyways, that's pretty much it, okay?
So I hope you enjoyed this lesson.
