Hey, hey, Jake and Peckers.
Vinnie, powertwang.com.
[F]
Today's lesson, we're going to keep this nice, short, and simple.
One camera.
This is just a little intro riff from the song Run Away by the band Love & Theft.
I'm not really going to tab this one out just because it's pretty simple, but if you're
into this type of stuff, I definitely have more video lessons that you won't find here
on YouTube, and you can find the link to the website below.
There's all sorts of freebies there for you.
Anyway, two parts to this intro here.
I'll point out that the rhythm guitar is taking [C#] care of this part here, [A]
[B]
[C#] and then it's basically
the chords on that.
They're just bar chords.
We've got a Db, [A] an A, and a [B] B, [C#m] and it's really kind of like a muted rock and roll, maybe
even 80s [C] rock type groove [C#m] going on there.
[B]
That's what the one guitar is doing, and [G] then the lead guitar is [B] doing this little intro riff here.
[E] It's kind of like a little staccato type lick.
So what you're going to do here is you take your first finger on your left hand and bar
the first, second, and third strings at the fifth fret.
Then what you want to do is take your middle finger and put that on the seventh fret of
the first string.
And then the tricky part is taking your ring finger and getting it up there to the eighth
fret of the G string.
There has to be enough curl in that in order to allow it not to deaden the second string,
because really the big part of this little lick is letting the notes ring into each other.
Even though they're kind of staccato, [D] they still do ring.
It's not complete.
All the notes aren't that dead.
Okay, so then with your right hand, all you're doing is you're just taking, and you're just
doing like an ascending picking pattern.
So it's just, you're doing third string, second string, first string, and you just do that
a couple of times.
[D#] So if we break this down note by note, really all you're doing is eighth fret on the third
string, fifth fret on the second string, seventh fret on the first string, [G] eighth fret
on the third string, fifth fret on the second string, seventh fret on the third string.
So together that's, [B] got that?
[Em] And then really you just do that again.
So you really do that picking pattern twice.
And then you finish it off by just doing, it's going to be [E]
third string, first string,
and second string.
So it's really [D#]
eighth fret on the third string, [E] seventh fret on the first string, and the
fifth fret of the B string, second string.
And you kind of let that last note ring out.
[G#m] [Am] So if you put that all together you've got, [B]
[E]
then you end up doing it a second [B] time,
[E] [C#m] and
then it goes into the verse, [A] [C#]
which is essentially like the intro.
Okay so that's pretty much it.
Like I said it's a pretty simple little intro riff in the style of the song Runaway.
Again I'm Vinnie, powertwain.com.
Thanks again for tuning in and we will see you soon.
