[D] Hi [E] [A]
and welcome to my easy strum lesson on how to play Stand By Me by Benny King on guitar.
The guitar is tuned standard E A D [G] G B E
[Em] And first [F#m] let's take a look at the chords
[N] Our first chord is A major
[A] We're [N] holding down the D, the G and the B string at fret 2
and strumming all the strings or we [A] can strum from the A string
[E]
[A] We'll be playing an F sharp minor 7 this way
[F#m] or this way
You can hold down everything at the second fret from the D string down
Or if you can, you can bring your thumb across the top and grab the F sharp
and mute the A string and strum
Just like that.
That's F [F] sharp minor 7
D major
[D] We're making that D major by placing a finger on the second fret G string
the B string third fret and the high E string second fret
[E] And then E major
Holding down the A string second fret, the D string second fret
and the G string first fret and strumming all the strings
We'll be able to strum these four chords throughout the entire tune
We're going to use an easy strumming pattern like this
[A] We're [F#m]
[D]
[E] [A]
strumming down, up, up, down, down, up, up, down
Just like that
We'll start [B] with an A chord
[A]
F sharp [F#m] minor
[D]
[E] E
[A] A
and we'll repeat
And
