Start Jamming...
I got a great tune, although this tune was made by the brilliant Jimi Hendrix,
created by Jimi Hendrix.
The title of this tune is The Wind Cries Mary.
There's not a lot of chords in it, but it's so brilliant that I want to show it to you on keyboard.
So here's my [Ab] version, my arrangement of that tune.
[Eb] [E] [F]
[Eb] [E] [F]
[Eb] [E] [F] [C]
[Bb] [F]
[C]
After [Bb] all the checks are in [F] their boxes
[C] [F] [D] [C]
[Bb] And all the clowns [F] have gone to bed
[Dm]
[C] You [Bb] can hear [F] happiness staggering on down the street
[G]
[Bb] Footsteps [Eb] dressed in red
[E] [F] [G] And the wind [Bb] whispers
[Eb] [E] Mary
[F] What [Eb]
[E] [F] [Eb] a beautiful tune.
So here's how you play this tune.
That opening riff that I did, [E] [F]
[Eb] in that section of the keyboard, and [E] [F]
[Eb] [E] [F] [Eb] then
That's made up, the first chord is E flat major that I'm playing.
I got E flat in the bass, and then I'm playing [G] G, [Eb] B flat, E flat.
But see that E flat right there?
G, B flat, E flat in the right hand.
[G] Thumb, [Eb] second finger, fourth finger.
There it is right there.
And then I'm moving up by half steps.
Half steps are the immediate note to the right or the left,
right next door to the first chord you're playing here.
So then I move up to E [E] major.
Right there, we got G sharp major, B and E.
We got E in the bass.
[F] Then we got F in the bass and F, A, C.
[Eb] Put all three together and it sounds like this.
[E] [F]
[Eb] Look down at my hands and see what I'm doing here.
Because I know [E] it's coming up on the [F] camera.
See that?
[Eb] And then I just do the same thing up an octave higher.
[E] [F]
[Eb] I even do another octave higher, why [E] not?
[F]
And then [D] F, D.
[C] And here's the C major chord, the first chord of the verses.
I got C in the bass.
I'm playing a big C, but you could play a simple C.
It could either be G, C, E, G, or it could be C, E, G.
After all [Bb] the
This is B flat major.
There's B flat right there.
We got B flat, D, and F.
That's set up right there in my right hand.
After all the jacks are in their F major [F] boxes.
Boxes, F, A, C, F in the bass.
[C] And we repeat that same series of chords.
[Bb] [F] And [C] then I do this.
[Dm] [G] [F] [D] [C]
That's C, [F] D, F, G, [C] F, D, C.
You [Bb] can hear happiness.
That's B flat major again.
[F] So the first three verses, first three lines,
are the same series of chords, C, B flat, and F.
Now we go to G major.
And how we get there, do it like this.
This is the way I suggest you do it,
but really you just need to do it like this.
[Gb] F, F sharp, [G] G.
And you play a G chord, G in the bass.
G, B, D.
So [F] that was a walk up, right?
[Gb] F, F [G] sharp, G to the G chord.
A footsteps, then back to B flat major.
[Bb] Dressed in red.
And then [Eb] there's that opening riff,
[E] [F] opening [Eb] series of chords.
[E] [F] And then.
[Dm] [C] A [Bb] broom is drearily [F] sweeping
[C] [Dm]
[C] Up [Bb] the broken pieces of [F] yesterday's life
[G] [C]
Somewhere [Bb] a queen [F] is weeping
[G]
[D] Here comes [G] G.
[Bb] Somewhere a king has no wife
[Eb] [E] [F]
[G] And the [Bm] wind [Bb]
cries [Eb] Mary
[E]
[F] Those are all the chords to that beautiful song.
There's a lead part over the same parts.
[C] [Bb]
[F] [C] [Dm] [G] [C]
[Bb] [Em] [D]
[A]
[G] [D] [A]
[Bm]
