_ Welcome to another lesson from Learnin2.com. It's brought to you by Five
Towns College in New York.
And this week we will be reviewing a new song by the
Foo Fighters.
It's called These Days.
I have gotten some emails about this one
and apparently it's kind of tough to find a lesson of it on the internet.
It
seems that there are a lot of Foo Fighters songs that we're doing.
It just
turns out that a lot of their [C] songs are interesting and a lot of people want to
know about them.
So [C#] let's review this one [B] and see what's involved.
The part
of this song that people seem to have the most questions about is the intro
because it involves right hand picking and it has two chords, an A and a D, but
they are not the typical A and D chord that you would normally find on the [A] neck.
For instance, the first A chord is shaped like this.
It's 11th fret of D and the
12th fret of low E and an open A string.
That actually makes up an A major chord.
Here's your A.
[C] This note is your C sharp and this is your [A] E.
So it's kind of a
good lesson in that [Em] sense.
You can find A major chords all over your neck if you
can find those three notes and ways to make a shape from those three.
So
here is the figure.
_ [A] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
Okay, so why don't we slow it down.
So as you can see here, as
I was mentioning before, this first chord 11 of D, 12 of low E and open A. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
And
here's the second chord.
This is actually a D sus 2 chord.
12 of low E, 12 of A and
your D string is open.
And your right hand picking is the same. _
_ _ _ If you'd like
to get a better look at the right hand, I'll kind of slide over a tiny bit here
and I'll just play the same two chords in the left hand.
Now you can see my
right hand.
A, E, D, E, A, E.
_ _ _ The names of the strings you're picking.
A string, E, D, E, A, E.
And [E] then when you go to the second
chord, it's the same picking [A] pattern.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [E] And if you look at the PDF [N] sheet that I have
up on the site, you'll see I wrote out the chords for the pre-chorus and also
the chorus.
And those are a little bit more straightforward.
So I think this is
the part that people wanted me to focus on.
And if you have any questions about
anything, just let me know anytime.
Okay, so thank you so much again for being
with us for the lesson.
And if you have any suggestions for future lessons you'd
like me to do or any kind of song or topic, contact me anytime and it's great
to hear from all of you.
So until next time, take care.
