_ [B] _ _ _ [C#] _ _ Hi and welcome to this tutorial.
In this lesson I'm going to show you how to play the electric intro to What Is Life by George Harrison.
_ _ The guitar is tuned standard E A D G B E.
_ So let's get started.
_ _ The [E] key of the song is E major. _ _ _ _ _ _
And I'm turning off my distortion so that you can better hear what I'm trying to show you.
_ We're going to start with an E note here at the second fret _ on the D string.
_ _ What we're going to do first is to learn a series of notes that make a loop that sounds like this. _ _
_ [B] _ _ _ _ [C#] _ _ [A] _
_ _ _ [B] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [C#] _ _ [A] _ _
_ _ _ [B] _ _ _ _
You'll [A#] be repeating that loop as needed during the song.
We'll be starting at the second fret on the D string.
_ _ _ And we'll play fret [E] 2, _ _ fret [D#] 1,
_ and then move [G#] down to the A [C#] string, fret 4, _
_ and then fret 2.
[B] _ _ _
_ _ _ [D#] Back to E flat here at the first fret on the D string. _
Back to fret 4 on [C#] the A string. _ _
_ Fret [B] 2, _ _ _ open.
[A] _ _ _ _ _ And we'll play that open string again, twice. _ _
_ And then to the second fret. _ _ _
_ _ _ So [F] our first melody is_
[D#] _ _ _ [B] _ _ _ _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ _ [B] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ Our second melody will go this way.
_ [C#] _ _ _ _ _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ _ _ [Bm] _
_ _ _ _ For [E] that one, we'll play fret 2 on the D string,
fret 1, [D#] _
_ _ _ fret 4 [C#] on the A string, _
_ _ fret [B] 2, _ _ _ _ _ back to fret 1 on the [D#] D string. _
_ _ A [C#] string, fret 4, _ _ fret 2, [B] _ _ _
open, [A] _ _ _ _ open again,
_ 2, [Bm] _ _ [C#] 4, _
_ [E] _ [B] _ _ _ so that was_
_ [C#] _ _ [B] _ _ _ [A] _ _
_ [C#] _ _ _ [Bm] _ _ _
We'll [E] play this phrase a few times [B] and _
_ [A] _ _ _ [B] _ _ _ _
[B] _ [C#] _ _ [A] _ _ _ [B] _
then [D] end it with this.
_ _ [C#] _ _
_ [B] _ _ _ [F#] And that was the open D string, _ _ _ fret 4 [C#] on the A string,
_ and three hits [B] on the second fret, _ A string.
_ _ _ Like that.
