Hello subscribers, hey YouTube, this is Paul McKay of One Voice Music Academy
TUNE YOUR MIND!
And I'm gonna expand on that triangle that I introduced in the previous video
The pentatonic triangle, quite an interesting concept, quite an interesting way of applying the pentatonic, alright?
So, here it is, just to [A] recap, we had _
1, [A] 1, 2, 1, 1, 2, 3, 2, 1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 3, 2, 1, 1, 2, 3, [E] 4, 5, 4, 3, [Dm] 2, 1
Now [G] what we're going to do is add additional tiers to the bottom of this triangle
And this is a way of expanding that riff so it actually ends up being longer
So, this is the first tier we're gonna add
[D] 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 4, 4, 3, 2, 1
If I were to sing [N] that with a proper modern contemporary style, we have _ _ _
_ _ See how that works?
Okay, so we're gonna continue adding an additional tier [B] and we have _ _ _ _ _
_ Alright?
And we have _ _
_ _ See what happens there?
How about if we add another tier?
Check this out _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Alright?
[N] And this is how I would sing it _ _
_ _ _ See how that works?
Add another tier, you can just keep going crazy with adding extra layers to this triangle, okay?
So, say we went
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
Next inversion, the minor pentatonic
[E] _ _ _ [Bm] _
So, the way we looked at it in the last [D] video, we said _ _ _ _
That's what we did, [G] right?
Okay, so [N] adding another tier
This is how it sounds _ _ _ _ _
And that's the first tier we're gonna add
How about if we try
2, 3, 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 5, 4, 3, 2 Alright?
Now, with each of these in modern contemporary style, we can say _ _ _ _
See what I did there?
And an additional tier
Say we said _
_ _ _ _ And just continue _
_ _ _ _ See what I did there?
This is the way it works
So, you can just keep adding tiers and increasing the length of that run
If you don't [E] already sing with riffs and runs
These pentatonic triangles are an excellent [D] foundation
A very good start
If you learn these, you'll be well on your way to really developing those skills
