I wear Punch Brothers.
As you can see, we look like a bluegrass band, but what we sound
like is a different thing entirely.
The idea being that we didn't consciously decide to
be a bluegrass band, it's just what we happen [N] to play.
These instruments are what we play
the best.
But the impetus for the actual material is to take these instruments and be looking
ahead, certainly influenced by what's happened in the past, but not beholden to it in any
way.
We're going to play a song called Movement and Location, which was born of a fairly esoteric
musical idea of mine that the boys rendered far more interesting and impactful.
Lyrically,
it's about a popular baseball pitcher who's no longer playing called Greg Maddox, who
was obsessed with the idea of perfecting movement and location in his pitches.
And the idea
of movement and location was something that I was really interested in pitching, and I
thought it was something that related to living and to relationships, and so that's where
