Chords for Hālau O Ke ʻAʻaliʻi Kū Makani - "Ala Pikake"

Robert and Roland Casimiro was written by Ron Rump and it was called Celebration.
One of the songs in there is not what we're going to do here but it inspired this song.
The song was called [C] Belina Oahu [N] and it was written by Robert Casimiro, Wayne Chang and
Lena Ala Kalamahaini.
[C] And in that song [N] which talks about different areas on Oahu,
it talks about the beautiful [B] golden [C] Ilima of the wasa which [N] is the floral symbol of our island.
That talks about then the Puakenekene which is abundant in Ko'olau Poko which is
the windward side of this island.
And then it also [D#] talks about the [F] Pikake is growing at Wai'alae
[N] and it talks about the practice of the families that grew the Pikake along 22nd Avenue and Pupupanini
in the Wai'alae, Kahala area there.
They used to go out on the full moon nights and they would hit
the plants with sticks and they said that something about the pull of the full moon,
it would cause later on the blooms on the Pikake plants to do plentiful.
So I took that verse from
the Celebration book by Ron Rump for the [G] Casimiro brothers [N] and composed a song just about that,
a song called Ala [C] Pikake.
And with that we leave you today hopefully [N] trying to make some connections
with books and music in our [D#] world of hula which is so prevalent from the [G#] songs and the chants for
Pele [Em] and [A#m] so on.
