[F#m] Welcome to [B] the new song cafe at worshiptogether.com. Today we're here with
Kerri Jo and [E] she'll be singing her song I am not alone.
So sit back [A] and enjoy
this new song cafe.
[F#m] Kerri it's great to see you.
You [C#] too.
Thanks for coming by and
sharing these songs with us.
This song I am not alone it's a really powerful song.
I've also heard you talk about this.
I know this is somewhat a personal
song for you.
Talk about this song.
I know you wrote this with some of your band
and how the song came about.
Yeah I started it with Marty Sampson and Mia
Fields in Australia and we didn't finish and the band and I were out at a really
cool little cabin out in Tennessee and just praying over the album really
seeking the Lord and actually just having just an incredible time of
worship together and I just felt like I need to finish this song with them
because the theme of it really when we're out ministering a lot a lot of
what the Lord does in these nights of worship is just being so near to people
and I love the theme in Exodus 14 14 the Lord will fight for us and we need
only to be still and just the reminder that we're not alone he never leaves us
he never forsakes us I think I could hear that scripture every day and be
okay because there's so many things we face and so many things that our
emotions deal with in life because we're human and because we're always in storms
we're always either standing looking at a storm or standing in the middle of a
storm or we're standing we're looking back at a storm we just came through you
know it's like there's always stuff going on and just that reminder that
simple reminder that he is with us we are not alone he goes before us and the
waters and the fire that we walk through will not overtake us it'll just
strengthen us good reminder and there always seems to be a song like this and
something I mean I know I know that you're for me was a huge song for you
it was a big part of your of your album two albums ago but there seems to be all
it's like a song like this it shows up on the record that's just about it's
very much about faith trusting God and also a ministry song like you said when
you go out and you sing it over a group of people yeah it's that point you know
in the night where you know there's a lot of stuff happening spiritually in
the room yes and God's just ministering and pouring over people and those are my
favorite kind of worship songs just get on my face let's let a song just play
over [C#m] me so I like to write those kind too yeah you guys share with us we'd
love to hear it okay

[B]
[C#m] And through these trials
[A]
You've always been faithful
[F#m] You bring healing to [B] my soul
I am
[E] not alone
Yeah, [C#m] and I love the fact, I love how the song starts
in the minor key there.
It's got a little bit of this, you know, kind of a
mysterious kind of sound movement.
And then when you get to the chorus and it finally hits that one
and it just all resolves and it's just, the whole thing lifts.
It's just a great emotional kind of journey through this song.
And let's talk about this.
McKenna, why don't we teach this from piano?
Because this is a great piano driven song.
Kind of walk us through the chords you're playing.
Yeah, well it's the key of E.
We start out with a very simple C sharp minor.
And it goes down to the [A] A.
It walks down from there to the [F#m] two minor, which is the F sharp minor.
Back to the C sharp minor.
[C#m] And to an E with [E] a major 7 in it.
Yeah, it's a great chord there.
And then the pre [F#m]-chorus.
F sharp minor to [C#m] C sharp minor.
Walks up to the E.
[E] And then it resolves on that B [B] sus.
To B, then the chorus [E] on the one, the E.
To the [B] B.
C sharp minor.
[C#m]
Down to the A.
[E] And the bridge, you build on the A.
Walks up to the B.
And it just goes back and forth from the A to the B.
[B] And finally into the ending verse.
[C#m] [A]
That's a great song guys.
Thanks for coming by and [B] playing it for us.
Yes.
