_ _ [Dm] Christ has done for [D] us in our lives
_ _ you know
[Bb] _
_ _ _ Brother Brian was sharing with you all that we've been [F] singing for many many years
I [Gb] remember it was probably 25 years ago that my mom and daddy
took me and my little brother Tim and my sister Kim Kim Greenhopper's my sister and _
And my daddy played the piano and we went to Jasper, Florida to sing one night
_ [G] _
[E] and
When we got there, I'll never forget [Bm] we got to meet a wonderful man and woman of God by the name of Colbert and Joyce
[C] _ Croft
They're great people great [Em] people
_ But how many people know tonight that sometimes?
[E] That real bad things can happen to real good people raise [C] your hand
_ It happens don't it?
_ [D] _
[C] And you know what it did to them.
_ I
Think one thing that Cobra Croft taught me that night was that you and I have to have the test
Before we can have the testimony in our lives _ _
And it was that night that I remembered [Cm] as Cobra gave his testimony
How he and miss Joyce [A]
and went through one of the worst
Most _ _ [G] difficult storms that any family would ever face _
one of the [C] deepest darkest valleys and _
_ One night in [G] the privacy of their home
_ _ _ They had gone as far as they [G] could go
_ _ _ They were beaten down so far _ from the weights of this world.
They felt like they couldn't go on no father _ _
_ And every way that Colbert looked out of every window
All he saw was the storms of life crashing in [Dbm] on him and his family
And _ he felt like there was no way out and [G] nothing else to do
_ _ And that night he and just Joyce they [Em] fell upon their knees in the privacy of their living [F] room
and they tried to cry out to God and _ _ _ _
I remember Colbert saying that [G] night that _ his heart was so broken.
He was so discouraged
_ _ _ That he didn't [C] even know how to pray no more
_ _ _ He said it [G] when he bowed his head _ and tried to pray that he couldn't pray
All he could do was just weep and all he could say was [Am] Lord help me _
_ _ _ _ God, would you please make a way when everybody [Ebm] else said there is no way God.
Will you make a way?
Will you [G] help me it's all he could pray
_ _ And you know what?
[C] I guarantee that there's a group of people tonight _
[D] It's been just exactly where Colbert and Joyce Croft was that [G] night
_ [F] _ _ _ _
Cuz tonight Calvin Ray will tell you that the [Gm] storms of life will [C] come
_ _ And most the time they'll come [Cm] without any warning
[A] _ _ _
[E] And don't ever think that they can't knock on your door because they can and they will
_ [Em] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [G] _ And that night when they got through praying they got up
_ _ [C]
Miss Joyce went over and sat down.
She had a they had an old upright pianist set in the living room of their home
And she sat down _
_ _ About one o'clock in the morning Colbert came over [Am] and flipped the lamp on sit down beside miss Joyce _
_ And that night as they sat there _
_ [E] _ _ _ [Bm] _ Feeling like they didn't have a friend left [Am] in the world and they couldn't take another step _ _ _ _ _ _
[G] at one o'clock in the morning _ _ _
God [G] visited that little house where they were _
_ _ _ [D] _ And in the midst of their storm _ at one o'clock in the morning _
[Bm] God come walking on the water to Joyce and to [C] Colbert Croft
_ _ _ And that night as they sat there [Db] he picked up a pen and paper _
_ _ _ _ _ And when he felt like _ that he couldn't go on no more _
_ God began to give Colbert some words to a song
_ _ _ You know what song that man wrote that night
[D] _ _ _
[G] He sat there and he wrote some words that said
_ _ _ _ Well, I thought that _ _ _ _ _ _
[C] Number _ _ one _ _
_ _ Would [C] _ _ [G] surely
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [D] _
_ Be me
_ [F] _ _
_ [B] Said [C] I thought I _ _ could be _
What _ _ I wanted
_ _ _ [G] _ _ _ [Em] _
Me [D] _ _ [G] I thought _ _ I
Could build _ _ _ on [B] life _ _
see
