Thank you for your time.
Hey, Valens, how have you cleaned up well?
[E] Oh, the army shirt, [G#m] special for us here [E] tonight.
So for the third time, I'm wearing my shirt for the point.
I've been home for two weeks, and if I was [B] on the road 28 in the last 30 [E] days, I wouldn't look anywhere near as cozy.
How about a round of applause for the [N] innocent
[E] Smithsler
Cannon.
[G#m]
Excuse me, I need a curtain, darling.
I'm just trying to crack open the door.
[A#] [N] We're going to sing a song now that Ron Hines wrote.
And, you know, back in 1999, our dad was our manager, and mom was our manager's manager.
It was a real family affair.
And, you know, dad was trying to help us [E] find some music for that first Christmas CD.
And he heard Ron Hines sing, [D#] oddly, their Christmas Eve on the radio.
[F#] And he thought it was the most beautiful song he'd ever heard, but he didn't like the lyrics.
[G#] So, somehow, because it was about a sailor and there was some alcohol [D] involved, and he didn't think it was very appropriate for his three [Cm] girls to sing.
So [G#] somehow he found the nerve to call up the man of a thousand songs.
And he said, Ron, I love the song, but can you change the lyrics for my girls?
Now, this many years later, at the time it seemed perfectly normal.
But this many years later, you know, as a songwriter, I'm not sure how I'd feel if someone called up and said, you know, [Em] I really love that song, [G#] I'll sing it home, but can you change all the words for me?
[N] But Ron agreed.
And he came and he sat in our living room, and within a couple of hours he rewrote the whole song just for [G] us.
And we put it on our very [A#] first Christmas [Em] CD called On M's [G#] Road.
[E] If you wanted to call me and ask me to change the [A#] words to what he had, I'd probably do it.
[N] And, you know, if you haven't had a chance to [G#] go and explore Ron's catalogue of music, you really have to do yourselves a favour and go explore it, because it's [F] the most [B] beautiful worlds to get lost in.
[G#] And, [A] you know, while we were coming up with [E] this last Christmas CD, [G#] how many times did I want to pick up the phone and just see if Ron had a song?
[E] And he will always be [B] remembered.
Now we're going to sing this one.
If you know [G#] the chorus, please help us out with it.
If you don't, I'll teach it to you as we go along.
[E] Here we go, this is for Ron.
[B] [E] Who knows why we do the [C#m] things we do
[F#]
Why I chose to run away
This [E] big city scene will [A] ask of me
[F#]
I'll be [E] there
Oh darling, I'll be there
And I'll be there Christmas [B] Eve
[F#]
Darling, don't stop [E] believing
Don't give up hope
[F#] Don't lose faith in [B] me
Cause I'll be [E] there Christmas [B] Eve
[E] Years can rush like waves upon [A] a shore
[G#m] [F#] And we've a waiting pathway to [A] your door
[B]
[E] Fallen [A]
[G#m] [F#m] leaves in [B]
sunlight
[F#m] And star [B] feeds for the dog
And we [E] move on
I'll be there [B] Christmas Eve
Darling, don't [E] stop believing
[A]
[E] Don't give up hope
[G#m] Don't lose faith [F#] in [B] me
Cause I'll be [E] there Christmas [B] Eve
[E]
This [F#]
[E]
[F#]
[B] [E]
one's for the third chorus.
Who knows why we do the [C#m] things
I [B] was so strong when I [F#m] said those [A] goodbyes
[E] Now I can't believe I'll go on [A] until you cry
I'll [B] be there
[A] Oh darling, [E] I'll be there
And I'll be there [A] Christmas Eve
[F#] Darling, don't stop believing
Darling, [E] don't stop believing
Don't give up hope
[B] Don't lose faith in me
I'll be there [E] Christmas Eve
One more time for [B] rhyme.
[E] Oh and I'll be there [A] Christmas Eve
[B] Darling, don't stop
[E] believing
Don't give up hope
[F#] Don't lose faith in me
[B] Cause I'll be there [E] Christmas Eve
Darling, don't give up hope
Don't [F#] lose faith in [B] me
Cause I'll be [E] there
I'll be there
I'll be
[B] there
Christmas [E] Eve
