I love that.
That's your version of acapella.
I love that.
You're going to do something acapella.
I mean, for those of you who have never seen this as I have,
Imogen has like the Starship Enterprise in terms of computers and samplers
and all this cool stuff rigged up to her synthesizer.
And that whole song, none of that, she sort of builds it as she goes.
Right?
I mean, that's how you do it.
You lay down a track and then you
How do you do it?
Yeah, that's exactly how I do it.
Hold on, is that mic up, guys?
Hello?
Oh, there it is.
Yes, [Eb] I have a little four-track sample over there and I sing something into it
and it repeats back to me.
And then sometimes when I have my other bits of gear with me,
I do the same with the piano and the same with my big thumb box thing called an umbera.
And then I also make beats and stuff live.
I've never seen anything like it.
I mean, were you like a complete computer, like techno genius?
No, I've never been one of those.
But I do love messing around and noodling about
and I do spend a lot of time doing it.
I read something about you started playing with like, back in the day,
I don't know if this is true, but with an Atari or something?
Yeah, I was 12.
I went to boarding school and one of the good things about going to boarding school
[F] was there was this cupboard and in the cupboard was an Atari computer
with an early, well, modern that day, sequencing software.
And I had no idea how to use it, but I just loved the idea that
I had all these different kind of melodies and ideas in my head
that I could kind of write down, you know, score, but not very well.
So the idea that I could just play it into the computer
and it would play it back to me without having to write it down
and then get a musician to play it was very appealing.
It really is, I mean, it's such a cool, unique sound.
I mean, there's no one even to compare it to as far as I know.
I mean, it's just, it's image and heap.
It's one of a kind, and I think that's what's so cool about your music.
Thank you.
Are you going to play a hide and seek for us now?
Actually, I'm going to play
Whatever, [Dm] it's up to you, whatever you want to play.
I'm going to play Let Go for you.
Oh, even better.
Yes, just for you.
And then I'm going to play Hide and Seek.
All right, great.
So this is Let Go, and this is Image and Heap live on Indie 103.1.
[A] [Dm]
[Am] [F]
[A] [F] Got some interesting [C] [D] sounds in the piano there.
I think I might have fallen in, but anyway, here we go.
[F] Drink up, baby, down
[D] Are you in or are you out?
[C]
Leave your [F] things behind
[Dm] Because it's all going off without you
[Gm] Excuse me, [Am] too busy
[Bb] Writing [G] your tragedy
[Gm] All these mess [Am] ups
You bubble right [Bb] when
You've no [C] idea what you're like
[D] So let [Am] go, let go [Gm] Jump in
[C] We'll watch you [D] waiting for
[Am] It's all right

[Am] Let go, [Bb] just get in

[F] Because there's beauty [C] in the breakdown
[Dm]
[A]
[F] [D] [C] It gains the more it gives
[D] Man, it rises with the fall
[F] So hand me that remote
Can't [Dm] you see that all that stuff's a sideshow
[Gm] Such [Am] boundless pleasure
[Bb] We'd know a [D] time for later
Now [Gm] you've come to wait
[Am] Your own [Bb] arrival
You've twenty [C] seconds to comply
[D] So let go, [Am] let go [Bb] Jump in
[F] We'll watch you [D] waiting for
[Am] It's all right
[Bb] Because there's [F] beauty in the breakdown
[D] [Am] Let go, just [Bb] get in
[G] Oh, it's [D] so amazing here
[Am] It's all right
[Bb] Because there's beauty [G] in the [C] breakdown
[Dm] Hey yah-hey, yah-hey

[F] Oom-dad-leh [Gm]-hey
Yah [A]-hey, [F] yah-hey
[C] Oom-dad-leh [Gm]-hey
[Am] Yah-hey, [F] yah [C]-hey
So [Dm] [Am] let go, [Bb] jump in, [F] well what you [E] waiting [D] for?
It's [Am] alright, cause [Bb] there's beauty [C]
in the breakdown
[Am] Let go, just [Bb] jump in, [F] it's so [Dm] amazing here
It's [Am]

[A] la [Bb] la la la
[C] Oh [G] la [D] [Am] [Bb]
