[Gbm] which goes up to over 9,000 foot.
[Eb] And when [Dm] I wrote this tune [Gm] 15 years ago,
I was camped out at the top of Sodor Pass,
which is [N] just up the hill from where I live.
And one morning I woke up and I had my guitar in hand.
This song kind of came to me.
But this summer when I was on patrol,
[G] I had to go up there.
It was in late July,
and they were [N] predicting a snowfall,
so I had to go up and warn all the hikers
that were up on St.
Mary's Pass.
I don't know if you noticed this out.
But then I took time to hike up the
little bit of the Pacific Rest Area.
I [F] got to enjoy the beautiful view
from on top [E] of St.
Mary's Pass.
[Ab] It's truly beautiful, the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
I can see why John Muir spent so much time up [Cm] there.
I mean, you [Eb] can talk about the Rocky Mountains
as being beautiful or the Appalachians,
but [Dm] I'll tell you, there's something quaint
about the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
[A] It's beautiful, [G] rugged.
You have the beautiful [D] mixed conifers,
which is one [A] thing you don't find
over the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

[Cm]
In my heart [F] Brother, stay
When he danced with one friend
[C] His heart came to [F] call
Afternoon day, [C] dreams are leaping with [Bb] fall
Thunderstorms gather [Eb] to sing us a song
[Cm] Can't find the way to
[F] Into the dawn
[A]
In [D] the [A] high [G] Sierra
[D] All of those memories [C] of you Come alive
[D] In the [A] high [G] Sierra
[D] The notes by the sink
[C] Come over like the light
[F] Keeps me inside
In cascading [C] rivers
We fish all day long
[F] [Am] Meadows and flowers
[C] That carry a song [Bb] Evergreen's fading
[Eb] In search of the sun
[Cm] Knowing that soon
[F] Winter would come
Oh, heavenly [G] father
[C] I'll treasure these days
[F] Hold them in [C] sight
Let them never [Dm] stray
[Bb] All of the beauty [Eb] and life
That you [Cm] gave
Through moments in time [F] Fade away
[A] In
[D] the [A] high [G] Sierra
