Start Jamming...
Alright, so this is an instructional video.
This song really isn't that well known.
In fact, it's not really even that popular, but I do remember at least one person requesting
to know how to play this song, and I'm sure there are others out there.
So I decided I would make an instructional video for how to play Cool Rider as seen in
the movie Grease 2.
So, the intro is actually fairly simple.
It is merely the beginning half of the diatonic scale.
So what you're going to do to play the intro is you're going to put your index finger on
the second string down on the fifth.
So we're on the fifth fret, second string down with your index finger, and again, this
is just merely the beginning half of the diatonic scale.
[F] [A#] [B]
[F] [D#]
[B] [A#]
[A#m] [G#] [G] [A#]
[B]
[C#] [C] I know there's a lot of sliding around in there, but I'm sure you can figure out if
you just give it a little bit of ear.
But that's pretty much the intro.
And the song itself is just as simple.
It's only about six chords long, and the verses start off on F.
Actually, I believe this is
F sharp if I'm not mistaken.
So it goes [F#m] from F to [C#] C, and back [F#m] to F sharp, and [F] down to A sharp, [B]
[C#] C, F sharp, back and forth.
[F#]
[C#]
[B] [N]
And that's pretty much the verse.
Now the chorus is just as simple as that.
You're going to start off on a D,
[D#] [B]
down to A sharp, [A#] C, A sharp, [F#m] F sharp, [C#] C, [D#] and D.
[C#] So when you put the whole thing together, it kind of sounds something like this.
[F#m]
[C#]
[B]
[G#] [F#m]
[C#] [F#m]
[B] [C#]
[D#]
[B]
[G#]
[F#] [C#m] [C#]
[A#m] [C#] [D#]
I messed up a little bit there, but you got the idea.
Again, it starts off
I want a cool rider, [B] a cool rider.
[C#] If he's cool enough, he can [B] burn me through and [C#] through.
Whoa, yeah.
[D#]
[N] And that's pretty much the whole chorus.
Now the outro is even more simple than that.
It's only two chords long.
So this is what she does when she's dancing.
She's just gotten off the ladder, and she's dancing down the hallway, and she's walking
outside, and Michael is following after her.
This is the outro.
It's pretty much just F sharp, A sharp, the whole way [F#m] out.
[B]
[F#]
[B]
[F#m]
[C#] [B]
And there you have it.
That is Cool Rider, as seen in the movie Grease 2.
Hope you have fun with it.
It's a pretty fun song to play.
