[F] [D] [C] Welcome to another [B] episode of Brooklyn Bound.
I'm Felipe.
Today we are at Co-op 87 record shop with Cole of Dive and Ben.
Thank you guys for being here.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
Speaking of records, congratulations on the release of yours.
Thank you.
How does it feel?
It was a big goal of mine, so it's done.
I'm happy.
What are the next couple of weeks looking like for you guys?
Shows, playing shows.
Playing as many shows as possible in as short a time [E] as possible.
And then, I don't know.
That's it.
Do you get to spend a lot of time in places like this, in record shops?
Are you digging or anything like that?
I never go to record shops ever.
I actually had only been in here once before, peaking my head in.
But it's really cool.
I like it.
For sure.
Ben, can you tell us a little bit about how long you've been here at Co-op 87?
We opened the store a little over a year ago.
It's myself and two partners.
My partner, Mike Catalano, and then Mike Sniper, who [F#] runs Capture Tracks, who put out Dive's record.
So it's all very in the family.
There's chalkboards in every corner so you can know where it is.
Yeah, yeah.
And it feels very community-oriented.
There's lots of label people and bands around, and there's lots of music people in here all the time,
which is kind of, I think, what a record store should be like.
Is this a large space or a normal space for a record shop?
I would say this would be considered a smaller shop, but we really packed it out as best we could.
We don't carry every new release.
It's kind of got to be something that someone here can support and back up.
It's a little bit curated in that respect.
And behind the counter, are those the records that you're highlighting?
The stuff that you see on the walls generally is either new release stuff over in this area,
or is higher-value, more collectible, rarer stuff.
[N] Cole, when was the last time that you actually
Do you remember the last time that you had to purchase a record or that you wanted to?
I did buy a whole box of records off eBay once.
Actually, that record was in there, African Coast.
That record was in the box of records I bought.
I just have this really obsessive mind.
I'll think about something, and I realize
I'll think about an artist, and I'll realize,
oh, wow, I actually don't really know much about that artist.
And then I'll just download their whole discography and just listen to nothing but that for a couple months.
I'm deep in a phase of that right now, but I can't tell you who.
Okay.
