I still sing Elvis Presley songs.
I still, you know, I mean now and again I would do Jailhouse Rock.
As recently as two years ago I was doing it on stage and I sing one of my favourite songs is
Lordy Miss Clordie.
I still include that in my shows today.
I love to sing it.
There are two Rolling Stones songs here as well,
Painted Black and Connection from programmes many many moons ago.
Well it's just an indication as to how easygoing and free-flowing the communication between the
bands were then.
There wasn't any sense of competition.
It was like, you know, a call from
Mick or Brian Jones, hey we've got this song that we don't want to use ourselves,
are you guys interested in it?
You know and I think I recorded Painted Black three different times
because for me it was one of the best things that the Stones did and the fact that it was
one of the first attempts to cross over east-west sounds, you know, it has a very
Turkish kind of
I think that was down to Brian Jones's trips to North Africa.
He was
always off in North Africa looking for new sounds and [G] nuances.
