You are defined for your unique style on the guitar throughout your career.
What made you pick up a guitar?
What are your influences and how did you reach to the point of finding your own voice on the instrument?
That's a long question.
I started off because I wanted to play like Kiss or the Ramones and then the longer I played the more I played
I found my voice on the guitar just by adding up [Ab] different experiences being in different countries
Being exposed to different cultures [Gm] and listening close to the music of other cultures
[Eb] Instead of the music of other guitar players.
I listen to music of other cultures
So that's why it's so special for me to be in Bulgaria for the first time in my whole life
So now I can be exposed to some Bulgarian music and hopefully that will find its way into my music
Can you tell us some things about your technique and the approach to your lead playing?
well, [E] like I said, um
[Ab] My lead playing [G] is based on
Music from different cultures different worlds and not so much learning from other guitar players
[D] I find that most guitarists
Listen to a lot of guitar music and learn from a lot of guitar players, and I'm not interested in that at all
I may learn from
[Gb] Gypsy playing from Hungarian
Violins or something or I may listen to a Chinese instrument or [G] Japanese instrument
And I will kind of learn their phrases and interpret them my own way
So that's that's my page and you have realized several instrumental albums
That they are all so different from each other.
How do you find yourself musically in these days approach style influences?
You know as you go through life you [N] always soak up new influences of your new environment and
I've been living in Japan for eight years now.
So a
lot of the Japanese current music kind of finds its way into my playing but
My playing just evolves so much from every experience really finds its way into my playing.
So
Everyone comes out different because I want to keep growing
And
What was it like for you to move into Japan?
I
Hear you went there without a guitar, which I imagine was a little bit stressful
No stress.
No stress.
Actually, I don't take a guitar anywhere that I go unless
Even when I'm playing I didn't even take any guitars to this tour.
I had all my guitars sent out to me
[F] Unless I'm playing a concert or
Recording or doing an event with a guitar.
I don't even touch a guitar
So when it actually comes time for me to play guitar
[D] I really get into it and [Gm] which I'm usually playing guitar anyway because of playing concerts or whatever
If I have a break from guitar, it's usually very nice
[Ab] Tell me about the new record bad DNA bad DNA.
Unfortunately has not come out in Europe yet.
And
[Ab] So I don't really want to talk about it too much because it may not come out in Europe
But the most recent album that did come out in Europe was called Tokyo jukebox
And I'll be playing a lot of songs from that tonight in [Eb] concert
And tell me your favorite Jason Baker story [N] my favorite Jason Becker story
There's so many of them.
My favorite one was I remember we were recording in the studio
And it was late at night late at night and the engineer got very tired
We were recording Jason Becker solo album a song called hair
Very difficult guitar work and the engineer was tired.
So I said let me engineer for a while.
So I started doing the engineering and
punching in the guitar parts and stuff and
Jason was tired.
I was tired.
We're both so tired that we both fell asleep at the same time
I was falling asleep at the tape machine.
He was falling asleep at the guitar
And it was just it was a crazy moment
But eventually we both woke up and kept working and how to see the mega that's period for you
And what you think about the new Megadeth?
Actually, the many the Megadeth experience for me was the greatest thing ever.
It was so fun
lots of great memories lots of great shows maybe 2,000 shows and
Lots of albums lots of great songs and I love the guys in the band.
I wish them the total best
I don't really know what their new stuff sounds like.
I'm pretty sure it's gonna be metal
But I'm not that familiar with it.
But whatever they do.
I want them to keep on keep on jamming
Okay, and final words something for for your fans here in Bulgaria
I would love to like come to Bulgaria to spend more time than just one day
because you have a beautiful country when we drove in here was just like
It was like what you see in paintings and stuff and really just beautiful meadows and beautiful blue sky and beautiful
Landscape and I really wish I [F] had more time to spend here, but we'll see what the fans are like tonight.
Okay.
Thank you very much
Thank you very much
