Intro for "I Lie When I Drink" by Dale Watson for TDPRI chords
Start Jamming...
All right, here's, instead of dropping it down like Dale Watson tunes his guitar down
a whole step [E] and then playing drop C from there, I'm just going to play it in drop D
tuning with the rest of the strings [C#] being standard.
It's in the key of [A] A.
So he tunes it down a full step and plays it in what would be B on his guitar, the B positions.
But if you just go,
[B]
that's the double stop here at the G and B string on the second fret.
Okay, and then [C#]
fourth fret of the A [E] string to the second fret of the D string.
[F#m]
[E]
[D]
The fourth fret of the D.
[G#] Sixth fret of the D.
[F#] I think he's playing a double stop for that last note.
[E]
E and A there.
[F#] I mean, E and B there.
Playing the D string second fret and the A string second fret.
And then for the end of it, it's.
[D] [D#] [D]
[F#] Slide up to four.
[A] Two in the G, [F#m] back [G#] to four on the D.
Sixth fret of the D string and slide it down to the second.
[E]
You might want to change fingers when you get down there because you're going to be moving up again.
So that's what I would do.
See, I'm starting with my ring finger here.
By the time I play that note, I'm going to be using my first index finger.
[A]
[Cm] Because you're going to go.
[C#m] [A]
Six and five on the G and B.
[Bm] Four and three on the G and [G#] B.
Two and two on the G and B.
And then it's.
[F#] [A]
Something like that.
I just learned this all just now so that I could post this for [F#] you.
I think it's.
[B]
[C]
You two, three, slide down to two and then open.
[B]
OK, so then the second time through, it's the same thing.
Only only single notes.
It's not double stop anymore.
[E] That's an E note there, but since you drop D, you have to play on the second [A] fret.
A.
[B] [A]
[C#] [A] [F#]
[G#] [E]
[G#]
[D#] [D] You need that drop D so you can hit that note there.
[F#m]
[G#] [E] [C#] [A]
[C#] [A]
[B] So it's.
[E]
[D]
[B]
[F#] [G#] [E]
[D] [F#m] [B]
[A] [B] [A] Yeah.
[C#]
That last a note there.
[E] [A]
[C#] And it's.
[D] [E] A quick slide up the four and then to the a note on the D string.
The second time it's not a quick slide.
It's not.
[A]
[C] You have to play it articulate the.
[A]
Anyway, so there it is.
Of course, he's doing it down a full step from there.
With a guitar tuned down a full step from there, so he's actually playing it a full step up from there.
But those are the notes he's playing right there.
