Hello to all my subscribers, to Cigarbox Nation, to Handmade Music Clubhouse, all you freaks
that like homemade music.
Here's my newest build.
We have another plank.
Except this one's more like a diddly bow in the way that it's set, more like a lap steel
in the way that it's played.
It's not played with a stick and a slide, it's played with a pick and a slide.
It's actually set up and arranged much in the way that I build my traditional guitars.
Eye bolt tuners, bolts for alignment of the strings, and then a bolt for the nut in the bridge.
Tuned the same way as well, in open A, AEA fashion.
Here we come to the business end.
This is actually hollowed out underneath a little bit, so the piezo's glued up to the
bottom side of this plank of wood, and it gets a nice hot pickup from the bridge sitting here.
Strings pass directly through to the bottom, a little space drilled out where they are
passed through some nuts to keep them from countersinking in the wood.
The jack is wired up very simply with only two conductors, and it's set up with the same
kind of bolt I use for my tuners.
Just a wing nut on the bottom and an eye bolt on top, and it fits the jack perfectly.
You just put it in there, thread it down, tighten it up.
It's pretty sturdy, stays out of the way.
Put a staple or two down here against the wire just to make sure it stays down out of the way.
Could have done a fancier, but I didn't feel like it.
This is a very effective method.
Takes only a little bit of time to build it, and it sounds really, really good.
So this is practically an electric only instrument, and we'll see what we can do with it.
I don't even know where I can put it that you can see.
[Ab]
Let me see.
You know what?
Maybe we'll do an interesting one this time.
I'll put you right here [Abm] so you can watch me play it.
That'll be fun.

Still getting used to it, wrong finger.
