You might even say that
the sound is heavenly and [Gm] that's why we call it by the [Fm] French word meaning heavenly, [Am] the
celeste.

It may
look like the smaller version of a piano, but [C] the sound is [Em] very different.
The piano
gets the sound from hammers hitting strings, [Gm] but the celeste gets [Fm] its sound from hammers
hitting [E] tiny metal [F#] bars.
_ That's why [Em] it sounds like a music box or like the stars twinkling
in outer space.
Just like the piano, the celeste has a pedal that can change the sound.

is much more sustained.

_ _ _ _ _ The celeste is a member of the keyboard family that only visits
the orchestra on special occasions.
It doesn't show up at every concert and when it does,
it hides all the way in the [D] back of the orchestra.
The most famous piece ever written for the
celeste is by Tchaikovsky.
When he was visiting [B] Paris, he discovered [F] this [B] brand new instrument.
He fell in love with its colorful sound and wanted to be the first composer to use it.
