IRISH JIG STRUM LESSON STICK DULCIMER chords
Start Jamming...
Alright, here's a fun little tune [A#] and we're going to learn [N] a new
Strumming technique here and learn to be able to play this
so I put up a video of me just playing this slowly and
then
Using a little different strumming technique a rhythmic technique with pretty much the same lot of material
And [C] I've got a completely different texture to the music.
[D] Okay
again
Reinforcing how important this hand is.
Okay
There's not a whole lot of stuff up here to be doing.
I mean, there's obviously technique to learn
But down here is where you want to focus at least for now, I think
I'll do another lesson and I'll walk through the material slowly and we'll play it in the slow air and then I'll tab on another
Section that will flesh out the jig part.
But right now
I want to focus on just
[F#] the exercise
[D] The strumming exercise which is at the bottom of the tab.
I've put the tab out
which is just
basically
Tabbed out playing it this slow
the slow way
But I will go into more detail as we go through the piece and write a more elaborate tab
[Dm] So the strumming exercise, so what am I [D] doing to change the whole?
Dynamic of the music I'm
Taking my pick and I'm strumming.
Let me go ahead and let's [C] get a close-up here
Okay, so you want to go down to the bottom of the tab where it's a strumming [N] exercise?
Okay, you're gonna see all I'm doing is I'm not fretting anything.
We're just gonna strum the strings.
Okay, so I'm gonna down [Dm] stroke
Then on the f-stroke, I'm just gonna pick up the bottom string
Then I'm gonna [D] come up and I'm gonna hit the the I'm sorry the top string
Then I come up and hit the bottom string once
Then I'm gonna strum again
Okay
It's hard to kind of hear all that but if there's a lot going on in that little bitty strum, okay
Strumming all the strings you're picking up
Top string open on your way up with an up pick
Before you strum down again, you're hitting the bass string once and then strumming so it's strum
Top string bottom string strum
Okay
So work on that strumming technique.
I'll do it again really slowly
Okay
Have you playing more soon?
