[F] [Bb] When I look back on my [F] life, [Bb] stillness [C] passes over.
[F] [Bb] What I stored was [F] yours to keep.
It's no [Bb] more mine to [F] reclaim than the rocks of the tree.
[Gm] [C]
Oh, [Dm] [Bb] I spent a year in [F] the kingdom.
On my [Gm] way, on my way [C] through the garden.
[Gm] Oh, I spent a year in [F] the kingdom.
[Gm] On my way, on my way through the [F] garden.
[Bb] [F]
Mmm, [C] [F]
mmm.
[Bb] What comfort used to [F] pass my days.
[Bb] Before you shook the cold [F] from me.
[Bb] I have [F] enough to hold me to your side.
Before [Bb] release comes for [F] me like a thief at night.
[Gm]
[C] [Bb] Oh,
[Gm] I spent a [C] year in the kingdom.
[Gm] On my way, on my [C] way through the garden.

[F]

Are there any particular themes running [D] through your album?
It's like death.
No, I think it is.
I [Em] think it is.
[D] [Em] I think you're being quite curious, [Gb] but in what
Oh, I am.
I am.
In what capacity?
Like, not fearing it or coming to terms with it or
I think, I guess I kind of set out to try to cultivate my own [N]
ideas
or a personal mythology about death and kind of how
I think modernity has given us a really
I mean, everything has to be so literal.
And I think that the idea of the afterlife is something that's meant to substantiate this experience
and not necessarily something that you
not necessarily a literal hope for an unknown future,
but more something that adds beauty and mystery to this experience.
So it's kind of, you know, for me, like, I'm very much a skeptic.
I guess my truth lies somewhere in that contradiction between being a skeptic who doesn't
I don't have any reason to believe in an afterlife,
[Gb] but at the same time recognizing the fact that it informs all of our mythology,
all of our religion, all of our culture.
And as opposed to wanting to borrow ideas from, you know, like a Bronze Age civilization or, you know, [Db] whatever,
I'm kind of trying to cultivate my own ideas about that.
I think a lot of the time that's where my music comes from.
And I borrow from like Chaldean or Atlantean or, you know, Hebrew [B] stuff.
But that's just kind of the history of mythology, just to borrow stuff and then you tweak it.
[Db]
I think that was just kind of the impetus for this whole thing.
[Bb]
[Gm] One more day, one more day [C] in the kingdom.
