I'm Jane, I made an [G] album called Zanaka and we are shooting [Em] the second music video [G] with Greg and Nao
on the song called Makeba.

[G]
The lyrics are talking about Maria Makeba, she fought for her freedom, for her own freedom
and she was a big lady for me.
I listened to her since I was a child, so her voice is kind of close to me, it's like a familiar thing
and I realized that a lot of my friends of my own age didn't know who she was
so I really wanted to give her this homage.
My name is Karabo Popi-Moletane, I'm a Johannesburg based illustrator and a graphic designer.
Olivier Basuwe had this great idea of having a cross-continental collaboration,
having South Africa collaborate with [Bb] France to produce something really great for the music video.
[Db] And this is great because it's exactly what Jane's [Dbm] song does,
we've got a very [G] strong South African connotation being [A] meshed with a very strong French influence [G] as well.
The [Bb]
[G] [A] real beauty of [Gm] human rights
For me [G] it was very important to shoot this video in South Africa because Maria Makeba was a South African singer
so I wanted to show to people traditional dancers but also modern things.
We are the Hafakchtam group from Soweto.
What [N] inspires us most is the [Ab] music that we dance to, it [Dm] helps us get the moves,
it [Bb] helps us [Gb] understand ourselves, so we express ourselves through our moves.
[G] It was influenced by indigenous [D] dances like Zulu [A] dance and [Ab] all [Eb] those dances.
And this music made me feel well and [G] confident in my talent and Spanish Zulu dance
because it's not normal to dance with that music,
so I'm proud of that because it made me who I am and expose my talent.
[E] [G]
In South Africa it was very important to mix the cultures
and that's why I wrote this song, because I wanted to [Gm] show to people that yeah, I'm French
but I listen [G] to Maria Makeba and I listen to Moussa Ngari, Sadi Fketa and a lot of other singers from around the world.
on the song called Makeba.
