What's up?
Welcome!
If you're new to my channel, I hope you subscribe to my channel.
You have everything to gain, nothing to lose.
This song is about five minutes of the same riff all the way through.
One of Jane's Addiction's biggest hits, tune standard for this.
It has kind of a Led Zeppelin feel to me in this.
Start with G major.
3E, 2A, 3B, 3E.
So it's the four finger version of the G major chord.
[Gm] Go down, down, down, up, [G] down.
[N] A thing that guitar players do is
using like dynamics, like they'll hit harder on some parts than others.
Like it'll start with a little bit harder of a [G] hit.
[A] [N] Then do an upstroke on an A major.
But when you do this A major, bar it with your first finger on the second fret D, G, and B.
Okay, kind of curl it up a little to where it mutes the high E.
And go,
[A] so you'll hit that with an upstroke.
With your thumb, mute out the low [G] E.
[A] [G]
[Am] And then do a fret [F#] hand mute as a downstroke.
Just set these fingers [G] over the strings here.
[A] Then go up, down, up on the A major chord.
Then [Am] add your finger to the fourth fret G.
[E] And strum A, D, and [A] G.
And then lift it off.
[G] [Am] So you'll go [E] down, lift your third finger off, or pinky, whatever one you were using.
Then you're hitting [G] two and two on the D and G,
which is already barred anyways, right?
Off that A major.
[A] Upstroke.
[G] So,
[A] [E] [F#m]
and then fourth fret D, second [F#] fret G, it's barred, remember?
[F#m] [B] And then [G] open D and G.
Now slow, that may sound not right, but it is.
It's a transition filler.
[N] So things aren't so just, blah, blah, blah, blah.
It fills and makes it flow better.
And that's how James and Jason's playing it.
It was Dave [G] Navarro, the guitar player.
[A] [G] [A] [G] [A]
[F#] Does that through the whole song.
It may look easy.
If you're not used to strumming and doing the fret hand mutes and all that,
and the muting of the strings that aren't supposed to be in the chord,
it can be tricky.
So break it down into pieces.
If you have to [G] just go
[E] Start with that and go over and over it and then add [G] the next element.
[A] [N] Just build it that way, okay?
So if you have any questions, if you're struggling and it asks me,
leave it in the comment section and we'll see if we can get it figured out for you.
Make sure you subscribe to my channel.
Like I said, once you do that, send me your favourite songs.
And I'm not really doing full songs.
There's probably about 20 on my channel.
They're just pieces.
Sometimes it's a verse and a bridge.
Sometimes it's a bridge and a chorus.
Sometimes it's an intro and a verse.
You never know, but I try and pick what I think sounds like the dominant guitar parts for you guys.
And on top of it, I'm giving these the way the bands are actually playing them.
I'm doing my homework on it, man, and studying it.
That way you're playing it like your favourite guitar players are playing it,
or your favourite guitar players, or your favourite songs from your band.
It may not be your favourite guitar player,
but if you like the song, now you got it the way the actual band's playing it.
So yeah, comment, subscribe, all that fun stuff.

If you've been playing and you're intermediate to advanced,
I don't advise this DVD.
