[N] [Fm] Say let it be, let it [Abm] be, oh,
[Db] forever's a long
[Eb] time, oh.
My blue [Bb] team.
[Fm]
[Abm]
[Eb]
[G] [Eb]
So shall [Bb]
we ever
[Fm]
be,
[Abm] is time.
[Db] [Eb]
Okay, before I get started, I'd just like to [Ab] send a shout out to [Gm] Justice Dare and Rachel Bobbitt.
[Ab] Those were the guys that did [C] the cover, [G] which I was playing over, so a big shout out to [Ab] those guys.
I've put the link [G]
for their cover in the description, so definitely check them out.
Amazing talent.
[A] So yeah, let's get going [Ab] with the tutorial.
Remember we've got the chords and the song structure in the description as always.
We're in 6-8 timing.
We're starting [Cm] here on the 6th fret, A string is our root, major 7 shape, so [Eb] we're playing
an E flat major 7.
Okay, so we want two bars of that.
Then [N] we're going to move to [A] E string, now root, [G] 6th fret, which is B [Bb] flat, two bars.
[G] And then we're going to go to F minor 7
[Fm] for two [G] bars, and then [Abm] take that shape up to the
4th fret for an A flat minor [C] 7 for one bar.
[G] And then [Abm] we'll just finish nice and easy, same fret, but A string, 4th [G] fret, that's
the [Abm] D flat, so D flat 9.
And I'll have a look [Ab] at a more complicated chord afterwards, but for now let's [B] just go with that.
Let's look at our timing then, we're [A] in 6-8, so you're playing on
[N] what [A] we would say the
1 and the 4, but really the pulse in 6-8 is two beats, [Gm] so 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
[Bb] And you've got your little scratches, little sus movement going on there, [G]
and some bass walks.
So once you've got the chords down, [Bb] and the changes, and [Gm] the [A]
6-8 timing, [G] and the smooth
transitions, then you can start working in these little movements that are in between,
that's what's making the progression [Eb] interesting.
So let's [C] look at those [Ab] changes and the timing of [A] those changes.
[G]
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, [Eb]
6.
1, [Gm] 2, 3, [Ab] 4, 5, [Gm]
6.
So the bass walks on the 4, 5 and [Bb] 6.
And what is it?
A string, [Eb] 6th fret, [Bb] two frets up for [B] the 8, and slide from the 8 to the [G] 10.
[Bb] And then you hit your B flat on the 1.
So let's put that together.
[Gm] 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, [Bb] 6.
1.
And there's a little sus movement happening on the B [Am] flat there, so let's have a look at that.
[Bb]
On your B [A] flat, let's look, [Ab] your G string there, you're playing [D] the major third, so
flatten it, [Bbm]
we go to minor third, so that would [G] be an A flat minor.
So if we [C] sharpen it, that's [Eb] when you get the fourth.
So fourth, third, [Gbm] major third, minor third.
So [Ab]
[B] the textbook way to do it would be to play [Eb] it like this, but that's a little [Ab] bit tricky,
so what I would suggest is, or [Abm] what I do, just take the pinky, [Bb] move it down a string,
and what happens is your third finger there [Ab] mutes the D string, which would have been
playing [Bb] octave of the root anyway, so it's not that important.
So there's your little sus movement.
So where is it happening, what's [Ab] the timing?
Let's go 4,
[Am] 5, [Gm] 6.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, [Bb] 6, 1.
So the 6 is [Ab] when you hit that sus [Bb] 4, and then you start the next [Gm] bar off with your B flat.
Let's put those two chords together.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
1, 2, [Ab] 3, 4, 5, [Bb] 6.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
1, 2, 3, [Ab] 4, 5, 6.
[Fm]
So that's our next bass [A] walk, and again, same timing as on the 4, 5, and the 6.
So we're going [G]
to E string now, [Ab]
[C] 8th fret, [Bb] and then A [Eb] string, 6, [Ab] and then 8 to 10 slide again.
[C] Keep these nice [Cm] and punchy here, staccato,
[F] [Ab] and then we move down to our F, [Fm] minor 7.
[Abm] The little bass walk there up to the [A] A flat.
Let's look at the timing.
[Fm]
3, 4, 5, [Ab] 6.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, [Abm] 1.
So on the 5 and the 6, and then finish [Gm]
off the progression there.
Let me play through it [G]
[Gm] slowly [G] with the close-up.
[Gm]
It can be a bit [G] confusing.
I'd say your best bet is just look, [Abm] listen, and just try and feel [G] the movements and put it together there.
So play through it slowly.
So [Gm]
[Eb] [Bb]
that's [F] [Fm]
[Abm]
[B]
[Cm]
pretty much [C] it.
[B] The only other thing [Bb] I'd add is the last chord.
[Db] So D flat 9, I'm not actually [Dbm] playing that in the intro.
I'm [B] actually playing [Ab] D [B] flat 9 with a flat 5 [Abm] and the bass missing.
So [B] if you [C] go to the D flat 9, all you're going to do is take your second finger that's playing the root,
which is your D flat, and now move it [G] to the G, so the third fret of the high E.
[Ab] That's the flat 5.
We [B] don't have the root in there, [Ab] but we don't really need it.
[G] So [Ab] your bass player is going to be dealing with that.
So that's a really nice
[Eb] chord to bring you home.
And that's it.

_ _ [G] _
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, [Eb]
6.
1, [Gm] 2, 3, [Ab] 4, 5, [Gm]
6.
So the bass walks on the 4, 5 and [Bb] 6. _
And what is it?
A string, [Eb] 6th fret, _ _ _ [Bb] two frets up _ _ for [B] the 8, and slide from the 8 to the [G] 10. _ _ _
[Bb] _ _ And then you hit your B flat on the 1.
So let's put that together.
[Gm] 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, [Bb] 6.
1. _ _ _
_ _ And there's a little sus movement happening on the B [Am] flat there, so let's have a look at that.
_ [Bb] _
_ _ On your B [A] flat, let's look, _ _ _ [Ab] your G string there, you're playing [D] the major third, so
flatten it, [Bbm] _
we go to minor third, so that would [G] be an A flat minor.
So if we [C] sharpen it, that's [Eb] when you get _ the fourth.
So fourth, _ third, [Gbm] major third, minor third.
So _ [Ab] _ _
_ [B] the textbook way to do it would be to play [Eb] it like this, but that's a little [Ab] bit tricky,
so what I would suggest is, or [Abm] what I do, just take the pinky, _ [Bb] move it down a string, _
and what happens is your _ _ third finger there [Ab] mutes _ the D string, which would have been
playing [Bb] _ _ _ octave of the root anyway, so it's not that important.
So _ _ _ _ _ there's your little _ _ sus movement.
So where is it happening, what's [Ab] the timing?
_ _ Let's go 4, _
_ [Am] 5, [Gm] 6.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, [Bb] 6, 1. _ _
_ [Fm] _ _
So that's our next bass [A] walk, and again, same timing as on the 4, 5, and the 6.
So we're going _ _ _ [G]
to E string now, _ [Ab] _ _
[C] 8th fret, _ _ _ _ [Bb] and then A [Eb] string, 6, _ [Ab] and then 8 to 10 slide again.
[C] _ Keep these _ _ nice [Cm] and punchy here, _ _ staccato, _
[F] _ [Ab] and _ then we move down to our F, [Fm] _ _ minor 7. _ _
[Abm] _ The little bass walk there up to the _ [A] A flat.
Let's look at the timing.
[Fm] _
3, 4, 5, [Ab] 6.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, [Abm] 1. _
So on the 5 and the 6, _ and then _ _ finish _ [Gm] _
off the progression there.
Let me play through it [G] _
_ _ [Gm] _ slowly _ [G] with the close-up.
[Gm] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ It can be a bit [G] confusing. _
I'd say your best bet is just look, _ [Abm] listen, and just try and feel [G] _ the movements and put it together there.
So _ play through it slowly.
So _ [Gm] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [Eb] _ _ _ _ _ _ [Bb] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ that's [F] _ _ [Fm] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [Abm] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [B] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [Cm] _
_ _ _ _ pretty much [C] it. _
_ _ [B] _ The only other thing [Bb] I'd add is the last chord.
[Db] So _ D flat 9, I'm not actually [Dbm] playing that in the intro.
I'm [B] actually playing _ [Ab] D _ [B] flat 9 with a flat 5 [Abm] and the bass missing.
So _ [B] if you [C] go to the D flat 9, all you're going to do is take your second finger that's playing the root,
which is your D flat, and now move it [G] to _ _ _ _ the G, so the third fret of the high E.
_ [Ab] That's the flat 5. _ _
We [B] don't have the root in there, [Ab] but we don't really need it.
[G] So _ _ [Ab] your bass player is going to be dealing with that.
So _ that's a really nice _
[Eb] _ _ chord to bring you home. _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ And that's it.
